Local rap hero Wale came under fire last week for bagging an appearance at D.C. Black Pride's 20th Anniversary event at the Convention Center -- an event celebrating Washington's black LGBT community.
Today, Metro Weekly reports that the rapper will in fact perform at the event. Organizers originally accused the rapper of homophobia. ''People are forgiving,'' said Earl Fowlkes, the D.C. Black Pride board member acting as spokesperson for the nonprofit organization, in the Metro Weekly report. "This whole situation can be looked at as a turning point for our black LGBT community."
