When the excrement hits the band: pigeons pooped Kings of Leon off the stage in St. Louis. (Kyle Gustafson/TWP)

- A crowd stampede at the Love Parade--a techno festival held in Duisburg, Germany--has left 19 dead and more than 340 injured.

- Kings of Leon were forced to flee a St. Louis stage due to excessive pigeon poop.

- A group of French nuns have scored a deal with Universal Music for an album of Gregorian chant. Hey, it worked for Enigma.

- Dust off your old King Crimson and Yes records. According to The Guardian, prog-rock lives.

- Remember when Paul McCartney came to town last month to accept the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song? Wednesday on PBS, you can watch the White House concert that featured performances by McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, the Jonas Brothers, Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dave Grohl, Faith Hill, Emmylou Harris, Lang Lang and Jack White.

Tacky headline, Aaron. The juxtaposition of a tragedy "18 killed" with something comical like "pigeon poop" wasn't a good title.
