Riffs: Pop stars get "Lost"
Should this be the cover of the next Diddy CD?
By David Malitz
Yesterday we became aware that the cover of the new Weezer album would simply be a picture of Hurley - the largest and most lovable character on our favorite show, “Lost.” We can pretty much see the similarities. Weezer is (for the most part) agreeable and good-natured, pop-culture loving with a definite side dish of insanity. So that got us to thinking - if other “Lost” characters were going to be album cover stars, which bands would be appropriate?
Jack - Coldplay
They’re not the worst but there’s just something about them that makes you really kind of hate them. Also, Coldplay has a song called “Fix You,” come on.
Sawyer - Kid Rock
Start off as bad boys but it’s slowly revealed that they’re actually just good ol’ boys.
Mr. Eko - D’Angelo
So much fleeting awesomeness.
Kate - Katy Perry
Good girl gone bad or bad girl gone good? Who cares - she's boring.
Locke - Tom Waits
Yeah, you’re really cool, but honestly we’re kinda over it.
Sayid - Spoon
Ruthless efficiency. Was there ever a bad Sayid episode/Spoon album?
Claire - Britney Spears
Sweetheart turned crazy person turned maybe normal again, but there will always be a little crazy in there.
Charlie - Oasis
Duh.
Ben - Diddy
Mastermind or fake mastermind? Successfully throw a preview party for the new Sean John collection, get to work for Diddy. Kill father and bring back proof, become new leader of the Others.
Richard - Tupac
Death can’t touch ‘em.
Jacob - Bob Dylan
Everyone just accepts him as an unquestioned God without ever even seeing him. And then there he is and ... that’s what all the fuss was about? (Imagine seeing Bob for the first time today.)

Charlie = Stereophonics, not Oasis
