Redskins Fans Say No to Ocho Cinco

Why are Redskins fans feigning shock and horror that team owner Dan Snyder and Guy With Unnecessarily Long Title Vinny Cerrato are willing to give up draft picks for Bengals Way, Way Out There Receiver Chad Johnson?

Is a move of that nature considered out of character?

impervious99: I dont know what's more nerve racking, waiting to see if we are actually going to draft 9 players this weekend, or getting a root canal!!!! It would not be a bad idea if ALL we needed was a wr, but that's not the scenario. Is it really that bad of an idea to actually use the draft???
jeffgraham117: Trading draft picks for an overrated, overvalued, gutless wideout with an attitude problem and a history of disappearing in the clutch. Given the 'Skins experience with this kind of thing, I just KNOW there's no way this could EVER blow up in their faces.
ASKENNEDY: I was thinking what a change Dan had developed common sense and a sensible offseason strategy.

And he did, Kennedy. But here's the thing: Quitting cold turkey isn't easy. Not for smoking cigarettes, and not for turning draft picks into high-profile acquisitions that backfire. Does anyone know of a good support group to recommend?

TRACIETHEDOLPHIN: Characture issues are taken into account when looking at draft choices, but we're pursuing Chad Johnson?
Kb11: This is STUPID. First of all, CJ is SHORT! He is not a tall WR. I have seen him in person and he is really about 5'11. Second he is a head case! Third, A FIRST AND A THIRD IS WAYYY TOO MUCH, WE COULD HAVE TWO STAR PLAYERS FOR THAT
dspinx: C.J. is gonna be 31 before the season ends !!! WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That, and he makes B.Lloyd look like a humble dude.

Nobody has the power to make Brandon Llloyd look humble.

WMRG70: too many of you keep saying "we" as though you have something to do with the trade and draft decisions. I have got to go find adult reading.

I don't even know what that means. Of course "we" have something to do with the decisions. What next, WMRG? Are you going to say that the referees can't really hear us when we yell at them through the TV?

Of all commenters, a mere two aren't completely and utterly distraught at the idea of giving up draft picks for this guy.

PANELMAN: Actually the thought of Chad doing an Irish jig in the Dallas, Philly, and New York endzones while clad in the Burgandy & Gold brings a smile to my face.
akers553: It's easy to say that this is a terrible trade and we don't need Ocho now before we make the trade but what I want to know is if we do make the trade and if it is successful will all of you nay sayers admit you were wrong. I highly doubt it.

For the majority of fans, however, it seems that desperation is setting in.

mattsoundworld: Please, Vinny, for the love of all that is burgundy, leave this one alone.
impervious99: I surely pray that they do not mess this draft up, because if they do, I'm done with this team, for real.

For real this time? I don't believe it for a second. Redskins fans are always threatening to "leave for good," but FedEx Field is filled to the brim with fans at the start of every season. The franchise is consistently one of the wealthiest in pro sports.

I'm inclined to believe you, impervious, because I know you think you can just up and leave, but you won't do it. Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato may want to make wise offseason decisions, but they can't do it. Am I right, or am I right?
