Barbara Reynolds Sticks to Her Guns on Wright

Marcia Davis

Barbara Reynolds has been the subject of speculation and debate this week, after the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's controversial appearance at the National Press Club.

Reynolds, who sat next to Wright at the press club, was one of the main organizers of Wright's appearance Monday. Some supporters of Barack Obama have openly questioned whether Reynolds--who is on record as a supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton--set up the appearance knowing that it could be potentially explosive and damaging to Obama.

But at a religious conference at Howard University, Reynolds dismissed her critics yesterday.

She told The Washington Post's reporter Hamil R. Harris, "Some say I was an Obama

surrogate, and now it is rumored that I am a Clinton surrogate," she said. "I am not a surrogate of anybody. Like my books say, I am not going to shut up, no matter what. They can label me or scandalize me, but I am not shutting up."

Reynolds went on to say Wright and say that he's helped to generate new energy about the tradition of the black church. "I'm glad to be a part of it," she said. "And no matter how negative the media is, no matter what the media says, people now want to catch the vision of Dr. Wright and go forth and challenge injustice."

Wright and Reynolds have known each other for many years. Reynolds, a former columnist for USA Today, left journalism and went on to receive a doctorate from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, where Wright was an instructor.

Poll shows Obama ahead with N.J. Democrats

April 30, 2008

TRENTON, N.J.

Support among New Jersey Democrats in the presidential race appears to be shifting to Barack Obama.

A Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll finds 45 percent of the Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents surveyed would like to see Obama get the party's nomination compared to 38 percent for Hillary Clinton.

Clinton beat Obama in the state's Democratic primary in February by a 10-point margin.

Nearly 40 percent of the Democrats polled say the continuing battle between the presidential candidates will damage the party's chances in November. ...

Anyone who has followed Barbara Reynolds knows her by her works. As a newspaper columnist, she made no sense and her articles were gibberish; when she served as a TV commentator on panels, the moderator often tried to avoid her comments because they did not follow the discussion; and when she became a minister, she couldn't find a church. Sorry to see Howard University got stuck with her.

I did read today that Ms. Reynolds was quoted on the radio in February as stating she was voting for Hillary in the Maryland primary and was urging others to do so.

Reynolds and Wright are cut from the same cloth.

What I really don't understand was Wright's minstrel performance. Was he mocking the 1800s minstrel shows or was he embracing them. "this is about the black church" was a completely racist line straight out of some 1920s blackface skit. But why would he say it? That's the part I really don't understand and is, I'm sure, why he's being repudiated. How could ANYONE think they could get away with a minstrel act in 2008? It was shocking and offensive.

Reynolds knew exactly what she was doing by asking wright to speak, she was doing what Hillary wanted her to do and that was try to damage Obama! She sounds like idiot that just came off the plantation!

As Ms. Reynolds states, "I am not shutting up." However, it seems that she has the right to shut herself up. She has deleted all her blog posts back to January, including one in which she states quite clearly that she supports Hillary over Obama, and another in which she strongly criticizes Obama for "burning his bridges" to the community of Rev. Wright.

Barbara Reynolds states that she will pick experiance over hope any day. Well I am glad she had no influence over Dr King. Because he had no experiance in changing a nation but he sure had a lot of hope. I am sorry that Howard University hired such and idot. Goarge W Bush had a lot of experiance and look were that got the country.
