Fenty to Make Statement on Fort Reno Today

Marcia Davis

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, the National Parks Service and U.S. Geological Survey officials will give an update on the status of Fort Reno Park today at 3:30 and discuss its reopening to the public.

The small, federally run park in Northwest Washington, was closed recently after a scientist at the U.S. Geological Survey reported finding dangerously high levels of arsenic in several soil samples. The Environmental Protection Agency later tested the soil and reported that it appeared safe for human beings. Stay tuned this afternoon.
