What You Need to Know, in Fewer Than 200 Words, Thursday Morning

Please start getting in the mood for tonight's Burning Couch Bowl. Terps face biggest Thursday nighter in five years, SI likes the 'Eers, and Jerry Palm says they need to pound Maryland. More previews here, here, here and here. Sam Hollenbach is one of two ACC QB's without a touchdown pass, ESPN does the Steve Slaton story, and another terrible use of "vanilla". WV native Cory Jackson is ready, really ready; CollegeFootballNews has WVU by 22 and Pat White has Jay-Z in his iPod.

John Hall's miss was a "kick in the groin" and a "kick in the gut" (both wide left, naturally), Carlos Rogers is the secondary's "most egregious offender," receivers speak out and Dr. Z has Washington 21st in the league, which is dumb. Mike Freeman just unloads on Mister Snyder, and the Football Outsiders also get in a few jabs.

The Wiz sign GW's Mike Hall and UVA's Roger Mason Jr., Caps are tied for longest odds to win the Stanley Cup (100-1), Orioles skipper Sam Perlozzo will return, former UVA guy Al Golden is strangely optimistic at Temple, Hokies coaches do bad local commercials and Virginia is 116th in Division I rushing. (WVU is second.)

As always, it depends; Imperial Palace had the Caps at 70-1 a couple of weeks ago (just ahead of the Pens who were at 75-1).
