Beamer Speaks about last Thursday night

Frank Beamer spoke for the first time today about some of the on- and off-field activities that took place during last week's loss at BC. Va. Tech beat writer Adam Kilgore reports....

On the comments of ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit, who criticized the program during Thursday night's telecast:
I thought it was disappointing, some things that happened there at the very end. I think emotions were high. Disappointment was high. That doesn't excuse it. What we're going to do is work like heck to make people proud of us with our play on the field and how we act off the field.

(This last sentence has become sort of a catchphrase for Beamer, sort of a GOP Staying On Message thing. He usually says it when asked about the mounting behavior issues, particularly when it's pointed out that, um, that's not really happening, the whole "making people proud" thing. He said it or a version of it three times today, and has probably said it more than 10 times this season.)

On Brenden Hill dancing in front of cameras at the end of the game to the BC band's music: We met this morning, and my impression is I don't think that's the way Brenden intended it. I know Brenden didn't intend it that way. That's what he expressed to me.

On Vince Hall and Aaron Rouse, who were seen shouting at each other: I'm going to meet with Vince later on. I think there was lot of frustration there, a lot of disappointment there. I think there's better ways to handle it than screaming at each other.

On Chris Ellis, who had three 15-yard penalties in his first game back from a suspension for being arrested: I had a talk with Chris Ellis. It went fine. We understand each other very well. (He didn't want to elaborate on the personal conversation.)

Looks like Beamer's lost control. He just spouts the same line, with no action/accountability.

I'd like to see the brawl with FIU/VT, or Miami/VT.
