Mike Hall Report No. 1

Your First Day Mike Hall quotes, thus ensuring that I'll be linked on gwhoops.com by this evening. Mike Hall is the former GW forward and outlandishly ironic rookie who is trying to make the Wiz roster as an undrafted free agent. I say outlandishly ironic, because he, more than any athlete I've ever interviewed, aggressively attempts to out-wiseacre the reporters.

Anyhow, the quotes:

Eddie Jordan on Hall's mission: "Don't be invisible. You know, every practice he should stand out, whether it's being consistent defensively, grabbing rebounds, not breaking down offensively. Just make a couple plays, just be visible. And he's [been] showing that, all of September at the Verizon Center. He's got a good chance."

Antawn Jamison on Hall's mission: "Just seize the moment. He's in a pretty good situation where he can make the team. Come in, work hard night in and night out. Of course, we're really gonna grade him on what he does in game-time situations, but everybody's been through that situation, especially the first day of training camp--nervous coming out of college--but just go out there and do the things that got you to this point. You know, play hard, play basketball and try to get the job done. He's a confident kid. I played with him the other day; I like his game a lot. I definitely think he can help out this team, too."

Caron Butler: "Mike Hall played with a lot of energy, getting a lot of loose balls. That's the kind of scrappy player we need."

Mike Hall: Missed it. I was talking to Gil. I'll talk to Mike later. And Gil's further comments will follow in a few minutes.
