What You Need to Know, in Fewer Than 300 Words

The big news: Team Turquoise unveil new alternate road uniforms. Here's a bizarrely serious story on the subject, and here's a Post photo, while the Wiz offer a photo gallery from the fashion show and a blogger calls Etan Thomas "delicious man candy." But seriously, a WashTimes source says there's "no way" Songaila is ready for the opener and he could be out a month, Roger Mason and Mike Hall might be fighting for the last roster spot, and Kwame Brown is out three to four weeks, continuing the curse.

Portis says again he isn't getting the carries he'd like, but that could change against a soul-searching Colts defense. Adam "Huh?" Archuleta says "this is the best defense I've ever been on by far," a defense that is second-to-last in the league in forced turnovers. And Tony Dungy says Brunell

"looks like different people at different times."

A local guard commits to Georgetown, and a local coach says the Hoyas' recruiting dominance is unprecedented. Virginia beats up "hapless and hopeless" UNC, and the freshman QB keeps getting better, which is nearly as cool as free Chipotle burritos in Charlottesville. QB Ike Whitaker could see the field this weekend for Va. Tech, whose AD says last week's ESPN comments were overblown.

The Caps gag late, Glen Hanlon leaves his role with the Belarusian national team, and Bruce Arena claims the Red Bulls and DCU aren't rivals (no, not at all). Also, detailed testimony in the Smoothie King h.s. football robbery case, high school tailgating?, and a new blog about the NHL's Southeast Division. Like I said yesterday, there's a blog about everything.

Yeah, gotta agree with my fellow Kim on linking to the Scum, TFKAM, Pink Cows forum on bigsoccer. And what is Bruce Arena on about that there is no rivalry? Et Tu Bruce!

gentle mother of god. as if the name "wizards" weren't bad enough. as if the previous off-blue jerseys weren't enough. gold? gold? i mean really. gold? Arenas is right (as always). They should be in the Red, White and Blue, like the Bullets were. those are classic uniforms. Gold, my god. i just can't get my head around this.
