What You Need to Know, in Fewer Than 200 Words

Must be college hoops season: USAToday revisits George Mason, Mike Wise revisits Jim Larranaga, so does the WashTimes, the Examiner calls Mason an international sensation, Gary Williams gets defensive and critiques TK on MNF, and JTIII says he'll play any local school.

To football: The Hokies have never lost an ACC road game but will have to do without Josh Hyman tonight. Virginia's offense is miserable, the Cavs soccer team pounds Maryland at home (precursor?), and the USOC criticizes James Madison for cutting sports.

The Skins have punting drama, Nick Novak went 12-for-12 in his tryout, this team has had 15 kickers in 12 years, the defense "rarely gets to the quarterback and constantly is susceptible to the big play," but the Tennessean gives us five reasons the Titans are even worse than you think.

Jarvis Hayes looks good, again; the Nats talk to Joe Girardi, again; the Nats stadium has a steel framework and is on schedule ("like an erector set"), but leave it to The Post to splash around some cold water about parking. Donald Brashear talks about punching people, Ovechkin's legend "has no boundaries," USA Rugby gets a new CEO and Maryland sports fans don't like going to the ER during games.

No mention of the Eagles qualifying for the '07 Rugby World Cup by beating down Uraguay?

That's Uruguay buddy and it is very depressing that we couldn't qualify especially after failure to qualify for the soccer world cup earlier this year.

When contract negotiation time rolls around you should hold out for an actual link on the sports page to this blog.
