Wizards predictions

Well, the Wiz roster is set. Etan Thomas is the starting center. Mike Hall is gone. Foggy Bottom's finest was cut today, meaning James Lang and Roger Mason made the team.

A sampling of predictions, starting with my favorite:

The Minneapolis paper says sixth in the East, but their prediction is more notable for this line:

While his poems might still rhyme, disappointing big man Etan Thomas is 'bout out of time.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is professional newspapering at its finest.

CBS Sportsline says 45-37, second in the Southeast, sixth in the East.

Sports Illustrated says second in the Southeast, seventh in the East.

The SF Chronicle says seventh in the East.

L.A. Times somewhat bizarrely picks the Wiz to miss the playoffs entirely. ("They're fun, but their rivals have been improving and they haven't," LAT says, completely ignoring the benefits of having injured Lithuanians on your bench.)

And NBA GM's don't give the Wiz much chance of catching the Heat.

I've been wondering if the outlets that pick the Wizards to miss the playoffs are qualified at all to be doing their jobs. I'd like to know which teams that didn't make the playoffs last year improved their teams in the offseason more than the Wizards.

WG-DC gets his (her?) sports news from Penthouse magazine and posts on the bog at 2:32 AM on a Tuesday morning. My life couldn't possibly be more lame.
