Here's what the deep thinkers thought: "anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger" (Dan Daly), "God must have been on our side" (Clinton Portis), it was the most miraculous 'Skins win in a half-century (Boz), Nick Novak may be one of the most popular local kickers of all time (Rick Snider), the action "was as much circus sideshow as football game" (Dave Fairbank), "this was a gift of Dallas missteps" (Les Carpenter), "there's not always a whole lot of reason" involved (Cornelius Griffin), and, of course, "they fought their guts out" (Gibbs again). (Btw, Mark Brunell and Mister Snyder have given money to the George Allen campaign, fwiw.)
The Terps feel invincible and talk bowl options, former Terp Matt Hahn gets ready to return to College Park, George Mason changed the definition of mid-major success, and Bog friend Yoni Cohen sees Georgetown and Pitt as legit national title contenders.
DCU suffered an agonizing loss thanks to yet another Maryland kicker, in what might have been Freddy's last MLS game. (The result, btw, involved either "inspired defending" by the Revs or "lively and inventive" attacking by DCU.) The Wiz (who are 7-27 in Orlando) are getting mauled on the boards and following their same old formula; and the Caps look for a defenseman while Tomas Fleischmann tries to impress with struggling Ottawa on-deck.

I read some of the stuff on that Dallas board and posted a comment. Nothing mean, of course. I don't try to stir up problems. But I hated hearing time and again yesterday that had Parcells kicked the EP rather than attempt the 2-point conversion, the Cowboys would've been kneeling at the end. That's an absurd assertion. Had the Cowboys been up 20-19 late in the fourth, do you honestly think the Redskins would've run three straight times with a minute left and settled for a 49-yard FG. I don't think so. They would've continued moving down field to get into better position for Novak. Now, had TO caught that long pass, it would've been different. But, had the Skins scored on one of their seven pays inside the 5-yard line in the first quarter, it would've been a different game. Point being, these hypotheticals are nice, but ultimately meaningless.
