Your Caps Questions Answered

1) In case anyone besides Kim was wondering why "Kettler Capitals Iceplex," Kettler is Robert C. Kettler, Chairman and CEO of what was formerly known as KSI, a massive real estate development company that specializes in mixed-use projects, such as plopping ice rinks on top of parking garages in the middle of high-density neighborhoods. The company is changing its name to Kettler. I asked Kettler whether he was a hockey fan.

"I'm a Ted fan," he said.

I asked how many Caps players he could name. "Not many," he said, laughing. "Give me the roster. I could get the Zubruses, those guys that just scored two each the other night. Ovechkin, obviously Kolzig."

But then he gave me a mini-analysis of the franchise's rebuilding philosophy, and of the balanced scoring they've gotten this year, and of building around Semin and Ovechkin, so I think he knows of what he speaks.

2) Practices are still in Ashburn for the time being, as the finishing touches are applied to the new facility. The operation will shift to Ballston sometime this month, possibly as early as next week. More updates as events warrant.

3) The practice facility does, indeed, have a snack bar. The snack bar does, indeed, have a liquor license. The team spokesman I talked to doesn't know whether the snack bar will be serving Labatts, but we can always hope.

All three updates are good stuff Dan, thanks! A few of us from OFB were there (not me unfortunately, work rudely interfered). I for one am thrilled about the snack bar news. Perhaps the garage portal height is a way of discouraging gas-guzzling monster trucks? ;-)

Ok Dan, they've got a shiny new Zamboni there right? So, I've gotta know, if Chris Clark couldn't get his Dodge truck up to the facility, how'd they get the Zamboni up there?

Honestly, and without a hint of sarcasm, I thank you for the update on the snack bar. Beer and practices... WOOOO!

Dude, I had the liquor news in August on my blog. Get with the program! :-P

Just kidding, Dan-o. Thanks for the answer to #1, because I was wondering about that.
