Mystics: Red White and Blue in 2008? Caps Too?

Big day for local press conferences: Wizards press availability this morning (in which I got the explanation for A.D.'s sensei bow, which I'll reveal in a minute), then the Mystics 2007 All-Star game press conference (featuring, among others, Swin Cash of the Detroit Shock, Mayor Adrian Fenty, Mystics Prez Sheila Johnson, Ted Leonsis, Baltimore Ravens tight end Daniel Wilcox, Olympic superstar Dominique Dawes, former Post sports editor George Solomon, Nikki Teasley of the Mystics, the WNBA commissioner, and Wizards reserve guard Donell Taylor, and I challenge you to find a stranger collection of sports figures in one place at one time outside of Love.)

And right now D.C. United is introducing its newest player, Emilio. But I'm boycotting, out of protest for all the Bog all-stars who have been traded away this offseason. Plus, I have a sort of spotty history with people named Emilio.

Anyhow, I just got to talk to Mystics President and Managing Partner Sheila Johnson. This will be of interest to both Mystics and Caps fans. She said the Mystics can't go to a red-white-and-blue color scheme in 2007, but that there's a "50-50" chance they'll go with America's colors by 2008, and that it will definitely happen eventually.

"We're going to red white and blue, too," she said. "We have to see how our finances are. It costs a lot of money to change those colors, you know that? It's not just the uniforms; it's the floor, it's everything."

I asked why she wanted to make the change.

"Because it reflects the nation's capital," she said. "That's what it is. We would like to keep the Caps and the Mystics in the same genre. I think it'd be great."

I gotta talk to Mr. Abe about this. Everyone needs to make this change at once.

Do you think it is possible that they can do both "Bullets" and red, white and blue?

I, for one, am not looking forward to having a re-hash of red, white, and blue. Especially for the Capitals, where they currently have one of the more unique (without being neon or incredibly weird) color schemes in the league.

Oh well.

It seems that the Wizards will (MUST) change their colors soon. Maybe they're experimenting with black and gold this season to test the possibility of switching to that scheme. Fine by me, as long as they match their shorts to their jerseys!

They really have to ditch their entire scheme at the moment. It must cost them a fortune in apparel sales. I love this team and I would never think of wearing any of their hideous gear!

For the caps I think most fans would love heading back to an updated RWB color scheme.

For the 'Zards I'm diggin the black/gold unis though the shorts need a vertical stripe.

I hahe the answer...Have everyone (Wizards, Mystics, Nationals, & Capitals) wear that Burgandy and Gold baby!
Hail to the Redskins!!!!
Seriously though, I would like to see the Red, White, & Blue (and the Bullets name)!
But more pressing is WE MUST SIGN GILBERT ARENAS TO A LONG TERM DEAL AT ALL COSTS!!! So if waiting to change colors is an issue WAIT...but the Mystics, Wizard (Bullets), & Capitals all need to be changed at the same time for consistency and for the Verizon Center color schemes!

The Caps have not looked right since they ditched the red, white, and blue uniforms. Every time I see them play, I feel like I'm watching a team using its third jersey. The current black ones really aren't that bad, but they just don't look like the Caps to me.

All of the teams have the same colors right? I just think those Wiz/Mystics road jerseys need to be black.
