German Sports Blog

When I asked yesterday for help translating this German blog that mentioned the Bog, the help came from all sides. I'd like to mention two in particular:

Reader Glenn used Babel Fish, with predictably comical results:

After it stated on Saturday stably, "I did not read Blogs" and the whole guild characterized in such a way, as if it would consist of any types, which do not investigate, but "sit in their cellar in their underwear and write, became something" he from the very highly estimated Dan stone mountain of the D.C. Sport bent the Washington post office hops taken.

The D.C. Sports Bent. I love it. And really, the Washington Post Office would be a better name for this fine organization.

More seriously, I also heard from Jurgen Kalwa, who writes about sports for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Tages-Anzeiger in Swizterland, and who started the American Arena blog "because I wanted to share some of my thoughts which I could not put out
there in the confines of old media." The American sports blogosphere is remarkably receptive to new members, but you don't really see all that many foreign blogs showing up in blogrolls and what not, and so I'd recommend all you German speakers check this out. For one thing, despite all the blogs about Vegas and the all-star game, Jurgen's American Arena was the only blog I saw that chose this headline: "Las Vegas im Ruckspiegel: "Der perfekte Sturm der Ghettofabelhaftigkeit."

Whatever Ghettofabelhaftigkeit means, I want that to become common blogging currency.

Der perfekte Sturm der Ghettofabelhaftigkeit. I'm translating that to the perfect storm of Ghettofabulousness.

Dan Stone Mountain is now your native american name.

Does this mean the Wizznutzz have to get a new Intern Fritz?

German translation: just a matter of breaking words into their subwords

ghettofabelhaftigkei

Ghetto-fable-dentention-igeki

"Las Vegas in the Rearview Mirror: The Perfect Storm of Ghetto-fabulousness".

I am now going to find ways to use "Ghettofabelhaftigkeit" in everyday conversation. God I love German.

I liked the German translation of Smith's quote:

in ihrem Keller in ihrer Unterwäsche sitzen und etwas schreiben

In their basement in their underwear (they) sit and write
