Eddie Jordan on who will be All-Star game MVP: "I don't think it will be Shaq."
OUCH!! Let's just get them riled-up before our 2/28/07 game at the phone booth, shall we? LOL. Should be a good game.

Who is this Gilbert person and why am I just hearing about him now?

I liked Gilbert Arenas a whole lot more when he was just a self effacing, outstanding player who was fun to watch, like former Redskin, Darrell Green. Sadly, he has become quite impressed with himself and his new found celebrity.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Gilbert Arenas when he was a self effacing, outstanding player who was fun to watch, much like former Redskin, Darrell Green. Sadly, he is demonstrating that unflattering narcissistic trait that so many exceptional athletes develop when they become overly impressed with themselves and their celebrity. Too bad!

yeah, the second take was much more effective.

Well, TNT didn't cover it, or if they did I didn't see it. Let's find out, everyone: what's the deal with the jersey at the All-Star game? Did Gilbert try to wear his "Agent Zero"?
I'm glad to see TNT and the NBA doing a lot of shots of Gilbert and news about him. That's obviously a marketing decision and they've FINALLY decided to make that (entirely correct) move.
We love Gilbert. Gary, maybe fame ruins some people, but Gilbert's cool and still his same goofy self. No one wants to fry him for a couple of ridiculously stupid comments. That's one of the things that makes Gilbert Gilbert.
Actually, athletes that worry more about whether the shot was cool than whether the ball went in get my goat. Gilbert's pretty real for the NBA -- whatever that means. You have to have confidence to be that good.

Gilbert has shown the world now that he's not a big time performer when things are planned. Gilbert came up a big goose egg each time (playoff free throws, rematch against Suns, rematch against Kobe, first battle against McMillan, 3-point contest, all-star game MVP, Vegas blimps).
What makes Gilbert unique (and possibly great) is the unexpected. When things are not planned, he executes them to perfection. When things are built up, Gilbert starts to think (a bad thing) and that's when he chokes.
Gilbert needs to let it all hang. Don't plan and consult, just do. Deal with the consequences later.

So, ummm ... the Caps played yesterday. On national television for the only time this year. Nothing? Nothing about Ovechkin singing Foo Fighters on NBC?

Thanks for the Gilbert links!!
Good piece on Eddie Jordan elsewhere on WashPost.
(Can't they put a link near Wizards Insider so it takes me to the DC Sports Bog too?)
