Nats Fans Have Swag
Because I've been accused on many fronts of having an excessive focus on Gilbert Arenas, I thought I should attempt to prove that my audience is with me on this. I received the following e-mail from Bog commenter and Local Poll voter Bryc3:

Nats Swag. (Courtesy Bryc3)
i couldn't make it to philly [wednesday] night. i was having dinner at corduroy when my fiancee gave me, perhaps, the most awesomest thing ever. i joked that i wanted it a while back, and she made it happen. but everyone i've told about it today says it's dumb. this is great though, right? i mean, he wins the starting shortstop job from guzman even if he plays without a glove and uses a wiffleball bat, right? she got flowers that didn't get delivered because of the ice, and i got an authentic, customized Arenas #0 Nats jersey. i take back every bad thing i ever said about valentines day.
Yup, this is pretty great. Not sure who would argue that this is dumb, or why. Also, it occurs to me, why has no one previously nicknamed Guzman Agent .000?

Gil playing for the Nats...he'd swing at everything, wouldn't he?

Arenas said he'd score 50... and that might be the Nationals win total this season.

Congratulations, Bryc3. That's like totally, totally cool.
Gilbert is everywhere.
Writing on Gilbert doesn't mean just writing on the Wizards. People just don't understand the "takeover" yet.
People who come and leave this town every four years are trying to drop his name. It's newsworthy and blog-worthy!
Hey, and, good people of the realm, it's not football season and it's not baseball season. It's Wizards seasons! (I'd say it is the time for the Caps to be playing too, but apparently they disagree . . . . .) I'm not going to be annoyingly posting "where's the Wizards news?" in July. I mean, shoot me if I do . . . .

It's alright Dan, this is the SPORTS bog. Baseball simply isn't a sport. I know I'll get all kinds of grief for this, but it's the truth. Deal with it. Yes, athletes sometimes play baseball, but playing baseball does not make one an athlete. Baseball is a pastime, like Chess or Golf.

Alec- that's just inane

I agree with alec. A pastime is how one pastes the time by, like playing chess or battleship. A pastime does mean the sport that defined a nation for a couple years, possibly a decade, but not further.

Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Used by itself, sports commonly refer to activities where the physical capabilities of the competitor are the sole or primary determiner of the outcome (winning or losing), but the term is also used to include activities such as mind sports and motor sports where mental acuity or equipment quality are major factors.
Pastime = Hobby such as collect coins or gardening, sports are also in this category. The end goal of a pastime is personal fulfillment.

I cannot believe you guys are even discussing whether or not baseball is a sport! That is so ridiculous it is actually quite funny! Don't you guys belong in the Anna Nicole Smith blog or somewhere where ignorance rules the day??

Ahem! Men. When will they learn? Let's review some rules, shall we?
OK, first of all, I am *certain* that whoever said baseball was not a sport was joking, or at the very least should be viewed as joking.
THOU SHALT NOT FEED THE TROLLS
Second, everyone knows that any activity involving mostly men that involves bad hair on the part of the refs, male fans, and male owners, is a sport. Baseball is especially a sport because even the players some times have bad hair.
MALE ACTIVITIES INVOLVING LARGE GROUPS OF MALES WITH BAD HAIR ARE SPORTS
Finally, Friday is a fun day -- every day is a fun day -- on the DC Sports Bog, and that implicates the final, most important rule:
TRY TO HAVE MORE FUN HERE
