Tony Batista On Board

Actually, I have nothing to say about Tony Batista joining the Nats, except to note that Nationals Enquirer takes the perfect approach to this signing. In fact, with every new Nats signing, I'd like to see someone find a YouTube clip of said signee wearing a jersey that says Soft Bank and pretending to charge the mound against a pitcher wearing a jersey that says Swallows while announcers chuckle in Japanese and the pitcher laughs in a way that you might laugh if Donald Brashear said he was going to rip your limbs off your body and that said he was only joking, really.

Oh, also, I liked this headline: "Nats Sign Additional Mediocre Players." Also, either something didn't translate in this passage after Batista won the Caribbean Series MVP, or MLB.com has a different definition of "joke" than I do:

Batista joked that he never expected to have a Series like this, especially collecting an inside-the-park home run.

"No one ever would guess I'd do that," he said. "That was a great moment."

Well, this is a great moment, too.
