What You Need to Know

The Wiz look to recover from a manic week and too much energy tonight against the Sonics, who still won't have Rashard Lewis, have lost 14 straight on the road and have a coach openly talking about getting fired. Actually, things sound sorta disastrous with the Sonics, and Supersonicsoul is already writing Bob Hill's obit. Also, Gilbertology finds a way to buy the Gil-Zero urban edition, Free Darko comes to the V.C., the AP believes Gil

is definitely in the three-point contest, and dwil misses Jamison.

(Former) Local No. 1 Va. Tech might not have an at-large berth sewn up yet, here's a slightly dated SI.com look at Local No. 3 VCU, Local No. 5 Virginia might have the best path to the ACC's top seed (plus Solomon Tat is providing great D and a student says it's officially time to get excited), and Local No. 9 Loyola loves the month of February. Also, the Terps women get their swag back and have fun again, as BC has a dreadful shooting night and becomes the basketball version of "fuzzy slippers."

The Caps finally win a shootout against the battered Islanders. Olie hopes yesterday was a sign, Ovechkin is relieved and earns plaudits, and players wonder why the glass kept malfunctioning.

Also, Ryan Zimmerman got to know Manny Acta while playing the field last year and is friends with a surfer or something. And a lot of people wrote about the Super Bowl.

Holy crap! Bob Hill is really the coach of the Sonics? Someone in the NBA actually thought that a coach who wasn't good enough for Fordham should be in charge of their team?

Why am I convinced that tonight's game against the Supersonics will be uuber close and just horrnedously painful to watch?

With the dice motif, the Gil-Zero Urban Editition must be Gil's official halftime locker room online poker shoe.

OK Dan, just wanted to let you know that your posting rate is horrendous for those of us stuck in Switzerland.

AND I can't find a cheese shop.

Your FREE DARKO COMES TO VC link is worth a hop: mighty impassioned prose there.

Never thought about some stuff that way before. For example, FREE DARKO writes:

On any team more straight-faced about swag or intensity or flash, those gold jerseys would be a miserable mistake. With this merry bunch, however, they're almost an ironic, ludicrous statement of purpose. We want to be the team that rocks gold lame uniforms. And gets away with it, in part because being in on a joke is what makes us soar.

(Hmm, like the Jerseys themselves, this is a bit of a stretch [sic] -- but interesting.)

Chris, LOL.

I looked at 'em. I considered it. But $200. Gulp -- I'll wait for Gil to throw me a pair.

In protest of Art Monk not getting in the Hall of Fame, I plan on drinking 15 beers tonight and showing up for work late.

I am so flummoxed I might do it all sans pants as well. Don't say the Hall of Fame Committee never ruined anyone's life. I'm a reck.
