Cal Backs Out of Imus Appearance

Since Thom Loverro is allowed to appear on Washington Post Live despite working for the Washington Times, I'm not going to feel guilty about using what appears to be a Washington Times exclusive in a Washington Post blog:

Hall of Famer Cal Ripken canceled an appearance on Don Imus' radio and television program scheduled for later this week because of comments the talk show host made about Rutgers' women's basketball team....

"In light of recent remarks made on the program, Cal will not appear on the show as part of his national book tour," [publicist John] Maroon said.

I guess someone should call Mary Chapin Carpenter, who's supposed to appear on Imus tomorrow, and see if she's following Cal.

Good for Ripken, his cancellation says a lot about what kind of man he is. It's a shame you thought this was a good time for the silly Mary Chapin Carpenter reference, everything isn't a chance for an adolescent joke.

You've generally kept the silly "frat boy" vibe out of this blog. Please don't move that direction....

Silly "Frat Boy" Vibe? I'd rather term Sports Bogs humor as sophmoric, at best.

Any links to scheduled appearances by Cal? Is he doing Letterman, Leno, Kimmel, or Conan?

In light of posted events, I'll go ahead and assume he left Howard Stern off of his list.

Maybe he'll do Don and Mike.

Good for Cal. Now all of Imus's scheduled guests should follow suit. Wouldn't that send a great message.
