Eric Snow's Wife is Named DeShawn

I can't believe this hasn't gotten more traction. I mean, Eric Snow's wife is named DeShawn. How often do NBA playoff series include a guard from team one whose wife has the same name as a starter for team two? I can't imagine it happens all that often.

And you want to know what's even stranger? Eric Snow's second son's name is Darius. I about fell out of my chair when I read that. Dead-tree journalists are now attempting to convince me that Eric Snow's grandfather's name is Abe, and that his brother-in-law's name is Jarvis, and that he probably has a longlost cousin named Brenda, but I think this is not really a joking matter. It's a remarkable situation. For great stretches, 40 percent of the team facing Eric Snow would share their fairy obscure first names with members of his immediate family.

I didn't yet know about Darius Snow at practice today, but I spread the word about DeShawn Snow.

The Wash-Cleveland series's other DeShawn.

"For real?" DeShawn Stevenson said when I told him the news. "Dang. I ain't no girl, though. There's more DeShawn guys than girls."

"For real?" Jarvis Hayes also said when I told him the news. "That's unique, isn't it?"

"So you're trying to say DeShawn's got a girl's name?" Antawn Jamison said.

To the contrary, I insisted; I merely thought it was interesting.

"It's an interesting story for you, yeah," Jamison agreed.

Happily, this transitioned into a discussion of other multii-gender names. Jamison suggested Tony. Others shouted out Pat, and Brooke, and Kelly. "A dude named Kelly?" Jamison said, but then someone remembered Kelly Tripucka, whose first name is actually Peter, but no matter. Anyhow, you know it's been a solid practice when Kelly Tripucka gets discussed.

Antawn, I've seen you clad only in a towel; four of five times in fact. I CERTAINLY remember you.
