Gilbert Arenas on the Baron Beard
Gilbert Arenas, like every blogger in the world, is thinking about the Baron Beard. After noting that Baron Davis told him in March that the Warriors would beat Dallas in the playoffs, Gilbert says thus:
I had a beard too this year but that was more of me being too lazy to go get a hair cut. Mine wasn't really like shaped up, it was just there. His is all nice and trim. He takes his time with his.
"Nice and trim?" Are we talking about the same beard here? Also, note especially the second sentence. Interestingly, if you substitute "Brendan Haywood" for "mine" and "he" for "it," that particular sentence would still make a lot of sense.

In other Gilbert news, he says Golden State-Utah is going seven games, he says he's trying to get the lag out of his leg whatever that means, he says the crutches are gone and even though he's still limping he's practicing some "flip shots," and he says he can't bear to watch the Eastern Conference playoffs, putting him squarely in touch with the typical NBA fan.
Finally, he proclaims that if this year was "The Takeover," next year is "The Sequel," which is a bit underwhelming, as far as named seasons go. I would have voted for "The Domination," or "The Leveraged Buyout," or "The Annexation," or "The Kidney Punch," or possibly "The Russian Sickle." Unless Brendan Haywood already claimed that.

The After Party.
Actually I think Gil is kind of right about Baron Davis's beard (frankly one of the more interesting topics in the sports world right now). I remembered it being a little shaggier-looking - like in the picture you have here - but in Wednesday night's game it looked very close-cropped again.
Tune in tonight for the latest on Baron's Beard, right? 9 pm on TNT! Talk about must see TV.
