This Morning in Bog

I seriously can't believe my TiVo chose last night to not work. I missed 75 percent of Idol, because I was in Fairfax covering a softball press conference. It will take me like a month to get over that. In the meantime....

Why isn't the Super Bowl coming to FedEx Field? (Dan Daly)

Could Ice Girls be in our future? (Nashville Predators)

The Virginia Tech football transfer I mentioned yesterday says he had been thinking about leaving the whole semester. (Augusta Chronicle, subscription req.)

The Yankees give $1 million to the Hokie Memorial Spirit Fund. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Mystics fans should be a little more careful when writing to the Washington Times. (Tim Lemke blog)

The Nats win on Bronson Arroyo Bobblehead Night. If Barry Svrluga does not return with a Bronson Arroyo Bobblehead for me, I will be very, very hurt. (Cincy Enquirer)

And having lost two straight to the Nats, Reds fans are wondering whether they should start sacrificing live chickens or something. (Redlegs Rundown)

Roy Hibbert staying put is bad for the Chicago Bulls, apparently. (Daily Herald)

It would appear that the Caps will be having Ice Girls next year. Purists, I suppose, object to this, but it provides great copy for bloggers. (Bleatings From a Caps Nut)

Washington will get the Super Bowl when Danny builds a retractable roof stadium on the RFK site.

I don't think the Bulls would have had a shot at Hibbert at #9. He probably backed out of the draft because he didn't want to go to the Bobcats at #8.

My DVR recorded the whole show except for the last 90 seconds. I'm quite sure they were the only 90 seconds worth a damn.

You're not alone, Dan...due to operator error (too many old episodes on "keep until I delete"), my TiVo didn't record the AI finale last night...which was annoying to me, but, um, my wife was not amused (especially since she had given me the green light to go ahead and erase those old episodes, which I had saved for her while she was out of town). That sucked...but for some reason, I don't feel like drinking Coke or driving a Ford today...

Bronson would be a nice addition to the Blog Show Bobblehead Stash!

Come On Barry!

If the ice girls look like that, who could be against it?! Though it would be kinda weird and awkward. Like when you look out on the ice and you see your 1st line center is Jiri Novotny.

Man...the thing I like about going to Caps games is that the gimmicks are usually entertaining and good-natured and never in-your-face or overly corporate. Which is the complete opposite of a Wizards game, what with that MC guy running around the whole time yelling something like "WHO WANTS A BURRITO!? EAT AT CHIPOTLE!" Sure, Slapshot is a bit much, but for the most part it's my favorite gaming experience in town.

I hate the idea of "Ice Girls" at Caps games. I think it's a real shallow gimmick.

Maybe your Tivo was angry that it should have been recording LOST instead of the karoake show.

Yay, Ice girls!! The marketing geniuses have found a way to numb our minds from 41 games of bad hockey. As someone before me noted, it's a real shallow gimmick. But that's what we've grown to expect from the NHL and the local NHL team.

Funny you mention the Predators. Ice girls couldn't save them. They'll be moving out of Nashville at this time next year. Could ice girls bring a similar fate to the Caps??
