On Kevin Durant and the Bench Press

You know all those stories about how Kevin Durant couldn't bench press 185 pounds? Well, the other night, after he dramatically unveiled the cover photo of him grabbing a rebound for that EA Sports college hoops game, he noted the bulging biceps portrayed on the cover.

Look at the guns.

"Yeah, that's me," he said. "I'm looking kind of big right there. So everybody who was saying I can't lift 185 pounds, look at that right there."

Which was funny. So later, I asked him whether he was saying he actually can bench 185.

"No, I can't," he said. "I can lift a basketball," he offered, which was also funny.

Incidentally, I had asked a bunch of Wiz draft prospects some superlative questions: hardest pre-draft workout, best pre-draft hotel, best pre-draft meal. I lost most of my notes about this, but I can say that the consensus was that Houston and Charlotte have the hardest workouts, Charlotte has the best pre-draft hotel, Seattle has the best food and Miami has the nicest locker room.

But also, Charlotte apparently tests the prospects on how many push-ups they can do in a minute. Some prospects thought this was a rather silly thing to test. But I can tell you that Thaddeus Young can do 52 push-ups in a minute, and that Cartier Martin can do 50 push-ups in a minute.

By the way, Cartier is after "The Cartier Affair."

Also, I meant to ask prospects for more examples of questions on those psychological tests that have to complete, but I only remembered to ask one prospect, Rodney Stuckey, who gave me this:

"What would you rather do, be building something or be at a live party, something like that."

Like, building a house, or a model airplane, or a basketball franchise? I didn't have a chance to ask. I'm going to assume they meant a model airplane.

"If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?"

These people are idiots. The teams, not the draftees.
