DeShawn: Single and Ready to Mingle
My vacation prevented me from noting this earlier, so I'll note it now. DeShawn Stevenson's post-signing interview with the official team video crew included him saying he is now "Single and ready to mingle....That's going to be my whole life." So much for the very exciting celebrity coupling.
In other top-flight quotes, he says the incoming glut of Californians "means we can jump everybody else in the locker room," that he plans to visit D.C., L.A., Orlando, Dallas, the Bahamas, and Brazil over the rest of his offseason, and that he doesn't plan on going anywhere internationally because "it's too long of a flight."
What's that you say? Brazil is international? Wrong, knave. Stevenson was, of course, speaking of Brazil, Indiana, the "Heart of the Midwest!" with its rich history in the brick and clay industry and the home of Great Dane Trailers. Sources indicate that it's particularly great for those of us single and ready to mingle.

DeShawn better be a stud this year, or the Juan Carlos Navarro thing is going to sting. Badly.

Without you Steinz, how would we know the ACTUAL birthplace of Orville Redenbacher?
From the Trivia section of the Popcorn Festival of Clay County:
"A Jeopardy show with host Alex Trebek that aired 08 September 2004 listed one of its categories as SMALL TOWNS. The answer was The Place Where Popcorn King Orville Redenbacher Comes From. And of course the question was 'What is Brazil, Indiana?'"
