Gilbert Cooks, Cooley Drafts
The news is all virtual.
* From EA Sports, news of Gilbert's Video Game Camp:
NBA LIVE 08 cover athlete Gilbert Arenas is heading north to EA Canada with 5 of his up-and-coming NBA friends to host NBA LIVE Summer Camp....and we would love to invite you to attend!
So there may not be a stirring rendition koombayah, a roaring fire, or s'mores on the sched - but there will be a bunch of guys trash talking their way through an NBA LIVE tourney, demos with the LIVE production team, motion capture, on-court skills comps and Gilbert cooking up some chicken and shrimp on a hibachi for y'all.
The event is next month in Vacouver. I'm not going. But yes, the schedule really includes a hibachi cookout.

"Cooley" and "fantasy"....sounds interesting. (John McDonnell - TWP)
From Players Inc., comes word that Chris Cooley will be involved in some inter-team fantasy football draft thing, sponsored by Reebok and EA, which might as well just sponsor me at this point. And why is it that NBA refs aren't even allowed to play $1 at a roulette table, but NFL players can playfully engage in gambling-like endeavors involving themselves and their opponents?
Anyhow, here is Cooley's competition: Champ Bailey, Tatum Bell, Jerricho Cotchery, Jay Feeley, David Garrard, Anthony Gonzalez and Roy Williams. Among the obvious questions: Will Bell draft himself before Kevin Jones is taken, will Champ Bailey go high on Portis, will Feeley subscribe to the theory that kickers are worthless in fantasy drafts, will Cooley wear his short shorts to the draft, and could either of the Lions involved possibly prove a less apt judge of talent than Matt Millen?
