Son Volt Does Beckham

This is certainly not new news, but I've mentioned it to a few folks who hadn't heard, so here it is: the ESPN Beckham ad featuring Son Volt covering the Beatles. Apparently, there will be a "digital takeover" of ESPN.com the day before the Chelsea game, whatever that means. Here's more on the ad. "Hello Goodbye" has been in my head for more than 48 hours, which is a long time for one song.

That was a nice day's work for me, huh?

Wow. I'm a Son Volt fan and huge soccer fan and didnt realize that was Son Volt.

Just as an FYI, Dan, two members of Son Volt (Dave Bryson - who also played in Bluetip - and Derry Deborja) used to live in DC (maybe one or both still do) and played in a great band called Canyon.

These guys arent original members of Son Volt, but joined on this last album and have been touring since.

This is the best commercial!

Guess the BOG is in Vegas/LA LA Land recovery mode this week?

How many corporate types at ESPN, LA Galaxy and MLS are having kittens right now over Beck's wayward ankle, I wonder...?

Two words for you:

Kenner League.

I love soccer, but the Kenner is ten times more interesting and more relevant to the Bog.

nice ad and all, but what's going to happen now that Beckham probably won't play on Saturday? What happens to the Beckham cam? I'm thinking they'll still use the Backham cam, but focus on him sitting the entire time. Must see TV! Can't wait for all the folks at the game to demand refunds too. Perhaps an after-game riot ESPN can capture with their 200 cameras? Or will Beckham be drugged up and play, or perhaps it'll be a new bloody sock story?
