Today's Top Five: Gilbert Gets Animated

1) The formidable Howie the Hype has answered my call for some mock-ups of Gilbert's cartoon series. Featuring a talking grill named El Hibachi. Tremendous. Now all we need is the t-shirt.

2) Deuce of Davenport has decided that since the Burgundies' starting safeties wear numbers 30 and 21, they should be called, in conjunction, Area 51. Like any good blogger, DofD backed up this tough talk with a t-shirt.

3) Nationals Enquirer figures out how to solve the Nats' upcoming parking nightmare: car transporters, that will ferry your vehicles around Southwest for a few hours while you eat peanuts and drink non-alcoholic refreshments. I believe a few Nationals have had run-ins with some of these car transporters in the past.

4) Via On Frozen Blog, it turns out that Alex Ovechkin is now a blogger, albeit a Cyrillic blogger. Any Russian speakers wanna have at it?

5) Mister Irrelevant gives us 10 Terps questions, answered by two Terps fans, who discuss infants drinking canned beer.

I think a fun blog would be a 'translation' of Ovechkin's blog.

A portion of AO's blog translated:
"In more detail about everything you now will be able to read on my bloge. To me it will very pleasantly see you here - girls, fellows and all fans of Russian sport. We will associate here as far as possible. I will answer your questions, and you will help me to learn news from Russia; -) I hope that this blog will leave on all a good impression."

Maybe that interview I had with Mike Wise wasn't such a great idea.

Now I'll never make the Bog's top five.

Translation of Ovechkin's blog:

Hello Gals and Guys!

You know what bothers me the most? That the best time of year, summer, rest, vacation, is almost over. Yup, time to get back to get ready for the next season.

I had a very eventful summer.

Probably everybody remembers the world championships. I've already said that I'd like to forget about it.

Then I rested a little. Then I followed up on Serezha Gonchar's idea, and with trainer Dmitri Kapitan's leadership we, NHL guys, prepared for the season in St. Petersburg. Everything was wonderful, not worries. Then they guys stayed there to train and I flew to Moscow. I worked a little bit with the "Dinamo" team, and then some by myself...

You can read about everything else in more detail on my blog. I will be very happy to all of you here... gals, guys, and all Russian sports fans. We'll hang out together as much as possible. I'll answer your questions, and you can fill me in on what's going on in Russia ;-). I hope this blog makes a good impression on all of you.

Pretty soon I'll have to go back across the ocean. I have tickets for Sep. 7th in my pocket. But before I go we'll write to each other for sure ;-).
