Bonus Redskins Quotes

(By Jonathan Newton - TWP)

With a pending juggernaut on our hands, and with a Super Bowl berth all but assured, and with me trying to think of a way to rip off Kornheiser's "The Bandwagon" (B-Lloyd's Aston Martin?), I bring you further quotes from last night.

First off, two quotes from Matt Mosely at Hash Marks, with whom I had the sort of bleary-eyed future-of-blogging 2 a.m. conversation that really should have taken place in someone's mother's basement:

"In my mind, that was winning time." -- Jason Campbell on the last drive of the first half.

"Hey man, how do you think I looked?" --Demetric Evans.

Now from the official quote sheets:

"We lost Randy as a player and as a cook. He's a guy that does a lot of our cooking on Tuesdays."--Campbell on Randy Thomas. Wonder what Jason Fabini has got, kitchen-skills-wise.

"I was nervous on that, because a lot of bad things can happen in that situation, but we decided to take a shot."--Joe Gibbs, on the end-of-first-half fiasco. Personally, I believe a lot of bad things can happen on the first drive of the first quarter, too. Why bother running any plays? Just punt on first down, would be my advice. Or maybe kneel on the ball.

"Obviously we didn't do some things well, we missed some things, but the thing that I was really proud of is we just kept fighting....I think what we do have is a bunch of guys who really lay it on the line. "--Also Gibbs. What, nothing about guts and core Redskins?

Total number of "hard-fought" or "extremely hard" usages by Gibbs in his short time speaking: at least eight.

"Why are you scared to ask for a picture?" Donovan McNabb, while posing with two Eagles fans from Idaho immediately after his press conference. It was sort of a bizarre scene. The fans looked a lot more bummed out than McNabb did.

"You cannot build a mansion totally with just wood. You have to also build it with bricks, so that when the foundation is put down, you end up with a nice house."--Santana Moss. What about granite, for the kitchen counters?

"Once this offense gets going and clicking on all cylinders, I feel bad for everybody we play."--Eagles WR Hank Baskett. His line yesterday: two catches for 16 yards.

"We're not at all worried about the Redskins. They're just not a threat. Maybe if they start beating us, ha ha ha ha ha, check back with us in 2016, ha ha ha ha ha."--Various Eagles Fans in the parking lot, paraphrased, but caught on video.

"The heart is bleeding. There's blood in the streets."--Caller to Philly's WIP last night at around 2:20 a.m. No, that's not a paraphrase. No, he wasn't joking.
