Brandon Lloyd: Truth or Fiction
There seems to be some confusion as to Brandon Lloyd's true character.
From ESPN the Mag's Redskins preview:
A Scout Says...Snyder's philosophy on building a team is backward. He trades draft picks for older guys. So what you get is a young quarterback throwing to older receivers who are out of place. Moss is a good player when he's healthy, but he's always hurt. Antwaan Randle El is not a No. 2 receiver and should have never been paid like one. Lloyd is a locker room cancer. They have too many veterans who aren't very good. They need to scrap it and rebuild, but Snyder won't let them.
From the NFL Network piece [above] on Lloyd helping mobility-challenged teens with the scuba diving program Stay-Focused:
"He's got a great attitude," Stay-Focused founder/president Roger F. Muller said. "The guy's always got a smile on his face."
From the Lloyd's-season-is-over WaPo story last December:
Lloyd started the first 12 games, but his production was paltry. His temper and attitude created problems with coaches and teammates, and after he tossed his helmet in a Dec. 3 loss to Atlanta, Coach Joe Gibbs met with him.
From Lloyd, in the NFL Network piece:
"Everybody can be physically tough, we all can be physically tough, but it's that mental toughness."
From "The Lost Season," the WaPo's devastating look at the 2006 season:
Even after the benching, Lloyd was problematic. One key exchange occurred Dec. 17 in New Orleans. The go route -- in which a wide receiver makes a quick move at the snap of the ball and sprints straight down the sideline -- was Lloyd's specialty. In the first half, Lloyd beat his man down the sideline and seemed to be wide open for a touchdown pass from Jason Campbell. But he could not locate the ball and it dropped to the turf.
According to a member of the organization who witnessed the exchange, [Al] Saunders approached Lloyd at halftime.
"Tough one out there. Those lights are tough," Saunders said.
Lloyd looked at him coldly.
"You're joking, right?" he said.
"No," said Saunders. "It looked like you lost it in the lights."
"What? That ball was 10 yards underthrown," Lloyd said. "Go talk to the quarterback."
From Lloyd, in the NFL Network piece: "I know willing and able athletes who have a setback, and it's everybody else's fault, and they never move on."

There are a number of worse things to be out there than over-emotional or slightly bipolar. I'm happy that he's doing charity work instead of getting arrested for DUIs, smacking up women, abusing dogs, using steriods, etc.
It's in everyone's best interest that he performs well on the field. I hope that happens so people don't try to poke a hole in him. Probably all young rich athletes have quirks, just depends on how far you dig. With BL you don't have to dig far to know he's a different kind of cat.

Enigma? There is no enigma, he was the worst starting WR in the history of the NFL, last year. The Worst.

Between his philanthropy and his rapping, I'm willing to give B. Lloyd the benefit of the doubt. Now catch some balls!

I met B. Lloyd at the mall after a radio show last year and he was a genuinely nice guy. i walked out to the garage with him(about 3 minutes) and he seemed very happy, polite, respectful, attentive...A+ character, JUST like in the video.
Santana Moss on the other hand was a rude jerk when i met him. He asked me where verizon was, i told him where and then asked "arent you..." and he just said "yea, Santana" and started backing away like a boxer getting ready to take a punch. Considering I had a smile on my face and just wanted to say "good luck" he gave me the weirdest reaction out of a celebrity i ever had. I almost wanted to yell, "take it easy, i just want to wish you good luck, not to throw a punch or spit at you."
