Brunell on Being No. 3

Brunell on being the No. 3 QB:

"Actually I was disappointed, but it's coach's decision and nothing changes for me. I still approach the game the same way. You know, 'Be prepared.' But that's obviously his call and that's what we're going to do....I mean, I wasn't surprised. I think it could have gone either way simply because you've got two guys that are certainly qualified to be a backup, certainly qualified to go in there and win a game if necessary. So, you know, again, it's coach's call."

He was asked whether it was weird to hear that he's now a third-stringer.

"Yeah, maybe a little bit, but that's ok," he said. "Every year's different, and I've said for some time now the opportunity to be a part of this club, to be a part of this team, you know, I really consider it a privilege. Again, you go out there, you handle things like a professional, how you approach your job, and that's really it."

Czaban wants to know if Brunell will step-aside for the benefit of Jordan Palmer.

Any other coach/team would have cut Brunell.

I'm glad we rewarded his smug looks with another year of...smug looks.

At least he'll go back to Jacksonville when he retires.

Wow...solid Redskins coverage in a WaPo blog! Thanks for the direct and timely news without all of the nonsense over at RI.

To hell with Brunell. He's the worst QB in the NFL and has been for a long time. The fans know it, his teammates know, most of the coaches and owner know it, the media knows it, even Brunell himself probably knows it. But Gibbs' religious convictions and connection to the Brunell family have kept Smirky Mark right in line to screw this team over and over again. I hope when Brunell's finally gone, Gibbs is too.

Why did Joe Gibbs take so long to announce what everyone has known for a long time? The sad thing is, if Brunell had even come close to Collins in presseason it would have been him as the #2.

AJ's pretty harsh.

Posted by: Unsilent Majority | September 5, 2007 06:45 PM

If Brunell's ability matched his classiness, the offense would have been in good hands the last few years...that said, it was time for the madness to end...

Dan, does this make Brunell the league's highest paid 3rd stringer?

Posted by: Kim | September 5, 2007 08:29 PM

Here's a thought. Let's get a busload of overrated, overpaid players and send them to the CFL. Brunell AND Portis can ride shotgun!

AJ and Joe you're really clouding the energy in this room right now.

find your center and realign your chi

Dan, i live in New York City so I rely heavily on the Post for my Redskins coverage, and I think you are great at blogging, but why for the Post's generic sports blogger do you have the best coverage of the Redskins. Can someone please fire that jason lawhatever or at least give him som crap job and hire a Skins fan to cover the Skins.

Posted by: Patrick | September 6, 2007 03:51 AM

You want a Skins "fan" to cover the Skins? Then don't bother looking for reality. Just go to team website and read about how everything is awesome, all the time!

Posted by: wha? | September 6, 2007 08:33 AM

Yes, as long as all those idiots over at RI stay off this blog I'll be happy...

I don't really understand the hate on LaCanfora.

Posted by: Unsilent Majority | September 6, 2007 09:20 AM

All those millions to play spades with Joe Bugel on the sidelines?

Hail to the Redskins.
