From the FedEx Field Lots, Part II

The weather was fine, the grills were hot, the shots were cold, the pink jerseys were, um, pink, and the diehards were abundantly optimistic. And so, I bring you Scenes From the Tailgate: Attempting to argue, in seven parts, that NFL fans are, in many cases, clinically insane. In a good way. Note: if you're included in any of these items, I'm not talking about you. And by the way, D.C. was ranked 12th among the 31 NFL cities for tailgating prowess in a survey released today. Baltimore was first.

Part II: Gold Hair Dye

Apparently turning one's hair gold is harder than you'd think. Meet brothers Tom (left) and Rob Passarelli, who have long pursued the quest of gold hair for Redskins games. You start with a white base, obviously, but when the brothers added yellow dye, it kept turning out green. And if you then add another layer of white, somehow things will turn silver.

"Every brand seems to come out silver," Rob said. "Last time people gave us a hard time; like, "Oh, you like the Cowboys???' Um, no."

I was producing enough sweat to water a medium-sized lawn yesterday, and when you have silver hair you can't really touch it without ruining the color.

"It's dedication," Rob said. "You've got to get over the itching. Block it out."

Indeed. Anyone know how to turn dark hair gold?
