If Gilbert Gets Traded....
I still haven't figured out exactly my response if Gilbert gets traded: Either a self-suspension without pay, or a month-long or possibly season-long blog boycott of Fun Street, or a determination to just fabricate Gilbert stories, or possibly I'll just quit. Is there anyone Gilbert could possibly be traded for who would be more opposite than K---? He takes himself too seriously, his "blog" is atrocious and repugnantly earnest, he doesn't publicize his gamer tag, he doesn't attempt to post rebuttals on video game forums, and he almost certainly doesn't fill teammates' bathtubs with coffee on road trips. There might be no move in any professional sport right now that could turn a belovable team into a behatable team more quickly than Gil for K---.
Anyhow, I refused to acknowledge all those rumors yesterday, but now that things seem to be dying down here are a few links if you want.
Sam "I Hate Bloggers" Smith chooses to give bloggers heart pains with random rumor-mongering, quoting a GM saying that the Wiz are a "dark horse" to land K---.
Ivan Carter quotes Ernie Grunfeld saying no truth to this rumor, blog hater.
Deuce of Davenport says K--- better "load up on Dockers and start wearing his work ID around his neck even when he's not at work."
FanHouse thinks K--- would waive his no-trade clause for the Wiz.
Gilbertology creates an ad campaign: Where Gilbertology Happens. (Answer: In D.C., thanks very much.)
Time Magazine slurps Gilbert's blog, calling it "not only the best sports blog on the Web, but the best blog, period."
Oh, and here's Peter Vecsey about the trade talk:
Speculation by Chicago Tribune columnist Sam Smith (erroneously supplied by an obtuse, unidentified GM) claimed there could be a Kobe-Gilbert Arenas exchange on the horizon.
Oh, I see, the Bulls won't give up their best player for Kobe, but the Wizards are supposed to surrender their franchise player! What, their second- and third-best players aren't sufficient?
I'm not a talent scout in real life but I used to play one on the Arthur Godfrey Show; and in my view, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler are as good, if not better, than what the Bulls are offering - Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich or Andres Nocioni, with Tyrus Thomas and a first-rounder or two (won't tell me they've run dry of lottery Knick picks) thrown into the pot for sweet seasoning.
Oh, and Arizona's freshman guard Jerryd Bayless? Yeah, he's wearing No. 0 this year.

Make the trade now. Gilbert is the most over-hyped (and self-hyped) player in the legaue. Whoopie he can score in a conference that lacks any real talent. Kobe comes in and this team is a lock to make the East COnf. Finals.
Besides, now that there is expectations for the Wizards, Gilbert will cave to the pressure. Let's be real folks...

I think you're a couple of years late on that popular opinion.

God Forbid you actually cover something other than Gil, when he breaths, when he blinks, when he eats, when he ....

If the Wizards trade Mr. Arenas, I will make good on the sweet relief I've long promised to give myself, that for which the Mothering Hut, Serbian [women of the night] and absinthe no longer medicate:

I still feel violated from the Chris Webber for Mitch Ritchmond/Otis Thorpe trade. Please let Kobe stay in LA

Skip Bayless has just discovered the Bog after Googling the term, "Everybody Hates Kobe."

Seriously Dan - stop trying to stoke more replies. You'll never beat Soccer Insider. and that's OK ;-)

I like how the Bulls friendly media (Sam Smith and Mike Wilbon) think that a Kobe trade is wrong for Chicago, but right for DC... Who would be giving up two players that have been an absolute Godsend.
Keep the Wizards lovable! It's all we've got here these days.

Really? I thought only Mike Wise did that. ;)
Also, if Gilbert's traded, I'll burn my underwear. All my underwear.

I seriously hate Kobe. He's a complete retard. I can't cheer for a team with Kobe. Arenas and the current team should stay.

Fun Street? You're plagiarizing Tom Knott. Can't you come up with your own catch phrases?

If Gil was traded for jerk Kobe I would have to stop watching the team I have rooted for since birth.
Now if Dan Snyder owed the Wiz, he would already have traded Gilbert for Kobe with 5 future first rounders just so he could have a bad team and still put money in his pockets.
Anyway, Kobe sucks. He can go cheat on his wife in LA, Colorado, where ever, just not in DC.
Kobe = Scotty Pipen

Agreeing that NBA is a business, wouldn't it be a smarter financial decision for Mr. Pollin to have Black Mamba in DC than Agent Zero? KB sells out more home and away games than GA.

Nice job on the Junkies.
JP is completely worthless on that show and brings zippy to the table. He and CK should switch jobs.

Actually, there is a sign on the same pole as "F Street" that reads "Fun Street"... so he's copying a sign, not some lame reporter.
