Vegas's NFL Power Rankings
So in Vegas, if you lose by three in Green Bay, you actually move up four spots in the rankings, since you were supposed to lose by 3.5, and since many other supposedly strong teams did poorly. Vegas, via Las Vegas Sports Consultants, says the Redskins are now 9th best in the league, and the fourth-strongest NFC team, behind Dallas, Green Bay and the Giants. It would still appear that Washington will be favored in six of its final 11 games, which would leave the team 9-7, if all goes according to the lines.
Other power rankings: FoxSports says 12th, ESPN.com says 11th, NFL.com says 10th, CBSSports says 15th, Yahoo!!!!!! says 11th and NBCSports says 13th. So yeah, they dropped in every single "expert" power ranking, but rose according to Vegas. Like I said, they did better than the spread would have predicted. Not sure how that means they should drop. Stupid experts. Even Football Outsiders dropped Washington from 9th to 7th.
(While there is strong disagreement about Washington's general standing, other teams are viewed considerably differently by Vegas and the experts. To give just two examples, Vegas has the Bucs and Saints tied at 17th; ESPN.com has the Bucs 8th and the Saints 26th. Since ESPN's power rankings aren't supposed to predict playoff berths but team strength, and since a TB-NO game would be a pick-em on a neutral field, ESPN.com's rankings make no sense.)
