Redskins Bonus Quotes: Fight Fight Fight

Redskins record in Dallas since Joe Gibbs retired: 2-13. That's not very good.
Wade Phillips: "I thought our team showed a lot of character."
Joe Gibbs: "I told our guys that I was proud of them. I felt like they came out with a great attitude and really went after it. I was proudest of the way they fought."
Dueling bromides! Advantage Gibbs.
Wade Phillips: "We keep making the big plays. We made the big plays to go ahead, certainly. You know, I just think it shows the character of this team. We've been doing it all year."
Joe Gibbs: "It's one of those things where we've got to find a way for us to make a couple more plays."
Dueling big play talk! Advantage Phillips.
Jerry Jones: "It was really a team effort. You really don't get to be 9-1 unless you've got some good coaching and some good players."
Dan Snyder:
Dueling owner talk! Sort of! Advantage Jones.
And how does T.O. manage to catch four touchdowns? Some comments:
Phillips: "They played a lot of different coverages, and they blitzed. You know, it was a combination of coverages. We were able to make plays. And like I say, you have to have time to throw it down the field."
Gibbs: "We had multiple schemes back there and we tried to do the best we could, but I think he is a real talented guy and they found him a few times."
Marcus Spears: "I don't know what Washington was thinking about, honestly I don't. I know that we as a defense, once someone is doing that to us, are going to adjust or double-team or something. But they let him run free."
Shawn Springs: "It makes a huge difference when you have Sean Taylor missing. When you have an all-pro safety back there, it makes a difference whether you can throw bombs."
London Fletcher: "We're very frustrated....We didn't execute the defense to the est of our ability. He made plays. That was the end of it."
Tony Romo: "We called a play three, four, five times that we didn't even get the look, and then finally we got the look. The team did a great job and Owens did a great job of making the plays, but we are only going to get a look like that once or twice a game. And when you get it you have to connect, you have to make a good throw, you have to make the catch....They were dropping everybody and it was nice to see that we can still attack down the field when teams are going to put a lot of people back there."
Owens: "They tried to put a lot of safeties over the top, they tried to shade the linebackers out there and we did a great job of adjusting during the second half. There were some things we missed in the first half that we saw."
By the way, anything else to be proud about?
Gibbs: "I was really proud of their effort."
Gibbs: "I've got to tell you, I am really proud of [Jason Campbell]....I am really proud of him and we all are, we think we've got an exceptional player there."
Gibbs: "I think what encouraged me today was our effort, going after it as hard as we did."
Jason Campbell on the late INT: "I thought he was grabbed, but at the same time probably should have tucked the ball and ran as hard as I could towards the end zone....I was trying to make a play and I feel bad about it."
Jason Campbell on the blah blah blah:"We've just got to finish. You think of all the games we lost this year, even on the road, we have to find a way to finish these games. We've got six games left, and we have to take them one at a time....This is a game we feel like we should have won....We fought our butts off."
Anthony Montgomery on the blah blah blah: "You can definitely be proud of the effort guys put forward coming back, but you can't be satisfied with that. Too many big plays, man, too many big plays."
Casey Rabach on the blah blah blah: "We've got to come up with big plays. We didn't capitalize on the opportunities that we had...We came close, but not close enough....Until we learn to make those big plays, we're not going to be any better than we are right now.....It's frustrating, it definitely is. We have to learn have that killer instinct, to put a team away when we're up.""
Chris Cooley on the blah blah blah: "We've got to win these games when we have the opportunity in front of us. The last two weeks, we just didn't finish out the game....The best thing about our team is that we'll get over this....We'll get back to work. We'll be there. We'll work hard."
London Fletcher on the blah blah blah: "We didn't close it out. We haven't grown in that aspect. We had the chance to score at the end. That's where you want to be. We just weren't able to get it done."
Vernon Fox on the blah blah blah: "There was no mystery. We knew what to expect. We have to take advantage of our opportunities."
Reed Doughty on the blah blah blah: "The big plays are an opportunity for them, but they're also an opportunity for us. They made the big plays and we didn't."
Chris Samuels on the blah blah blah: "As long as we go out and fight like we did today, I think everything will take care of itself and we'll have a shot to get into the playoffs."
Chris Samuels on the noise: "The crowd was a major factor. I didn't hear a thing all day."
Santana Moss on whether the team is still in it: "Yeah we're still in it. Do you think we've got a chance?"
David Elfin of the Wash Times: "It's getting tough."
Moss in response: "To tell you the truth, it really don't matter what the outside think. That's how we feel, you know. We know that, everybody know that. As long as we keep fighting the way we fought, some of those games that we have lost early because of this or because of that, we're going to turn around and win those games. We've got six more chances to pretty much do that."

Marcus Spears pretty much sums up my life's perspective on the Redskins.

Hey WLAKNER,
What counts is that the COWBOYS beat the Skins and we have a better record. The only reason you have something to say about the "COWBOYS" is because you don't have anything to say about the Redskins, they are a losing team!!!!
GO COWBOYS!!!!!!

For the record -
1. I traded T.O. and Green Bay D for Portis and Cooley in fantasy before Wk. 1 started. Um ... yeah ... Thanks a lot Ditka - you never liked T.O. and you never will.
2. In round 3 draft, it was Romo or McGahee. And I picked the latter ... Thanks a lot Yahoo autofilter.
3. Had the Skins D for 1 week and they gave up 52 to the Pats. Thanks a lot Coach Dub!
Paint me burgendy & gold and call me Gumby.

When is someone going to address the failure of the skins in the red zone?
Posted by: sharkoz | November 19, 2007 12:31 PM
At 5-5 the skins are neither a winning or losing team.
Man, my head hurts.

"but I think he is a real talented guy and they found him a few times."
You think they found him a few times, Joseph? Cause I'm pretty sure they did...having watched the game and stuff...

Gee, where are all those peeps who were hatin' on me and Dallas last week? Much credit to those Washington fans who came today and posted regardless of the game's outcome. Am I hatin' back? Nope. How foolish would I have to be talk trash after barely winning? As I tried to tell peeps last week: You just never know with this rivalry--the favored team is usually the one that needs to watch out for the "underdog." See you in December. (If it's any consolation to both sides, we get to watch the Iggles take their shot at the Patriots this week. In a word? Hilarity.)

I thought this game was incredibly hard fought.
