A Young Caron

Caron's "My Amazing Journey" tale on NBA.com is, to be fair, actually amazing. Like, when Dwight Howard was asked about the biggest obstacle he had to overcome on the way to the League, he said " I have overcome a lot of obstacles to make it in the NBA." Caron, meanwhile, chose the time he was locked up for selling drugs:

My mother was working two jobs and the two uncles that I looked up to were incarcerated as well, because they were selling narcotics on the streets and everything. They were my idols and I was just trying to live up to what they did, and that's how I got incarcerated.

The story has been told of how Caron cried when he signed his latest contract with the Wiz, and some of his words in his Amazing Journey thing--which might seem a bit sappy coming from someone else--sort of fit in with that tale. Like this, about the pre-game:

I always get this feeling, I can't describe it, it's like a little crazy feeling that you get before every game when you come out of the tunnel and see the fans. Everybody is cheering or booing. It's a rewarding feeling like, "Man, I'm here. I get paid to play the game of basketball." It's an unbelievable feeling.
But yeah, this item was pretty much just an excuse to borrow that photo of a young Caron, whose face does not appear to have changed since the age of 11, or whatever.

How can you not love this guy?

And he does look exactly the same now as he did at 10-ish. We should all be so lucky!

Not only has Caron filled in nicely offensively during Gil absence, but his bloggability appears to be just as solid.
