GW Colonials = Locksmiths

So, apparently, don't count out those Colonials just yet. That 49-20 win smelled like the AFC Championship game score domination. I mean, as Steven Goff astutely noted, GW had as many blocks and steals as St. Louis had points last night. I believe Hillary Clinton had as many steals as St. Louis had points last night. But seriously, that's some Locksmith-like defense, and this in the same week that the GW women beat Brown 98-22, on the strength of a 23-0 run that would have been enough to beat the St. Louis men.
For the record, here are the scoreless streaks endured by Rick Majerus's charges last night.
* Five minutes and 44 seconds (during which GW went on a 5-0 run).
* Two minutes and 44 seconds (during which GW went on a 6-0 run).
* Nine minutes and 44 seconds (during which GW went on a 12-0 run).
* Eight minutes and 16 seconds (during which GW went on an 11-0 run).
* Two minutes and 17 seconds (during which GW went on a 4-0 run).
* Two minutes and 56 seconds (during which GW went on a scintillating 2-0 game-ending run).
Just three of these spells, packaged rightly, could have given GW a halftime lead of about 25-0, which would have been even more enjoyable.
Of course, Rick Majerus has probably had plenty of halftime donuts in his career.

Long way to go for a Majerus donut joke. I respect that.

Mike Jarvis questions where exactly he went wrong.

Majerus has had so many heart attacks, he's not even worried that his arm is turning blue in that picture.

Nice to see some positive press from the post this morning- tks Goff and Danny boy. you both know that this is a transitional year for us- we have struggled to find the necessary chemistry and intesity.
Last night was different and reminded many gwhoop.sters just how special our program is regardless of w/l record.
11 blocked shots and defensive mastery coupled with poor Biliken shooting set records in the smitty all night long!
Danny- come out and see a home game soon.

Majerus must have promised to lose a pound for every point his team scored.
Dan, if you're going to a GW home game, it should be Feb. 6 versus LaSalle. you'll be able to interview every person in attendance.

Too bad it was GW and nobody (other than Goff) saw it.
Then again, maybe that's GW's defensive secret.
