Super Bowl of Beer Pong
This is called "knowing your audience"....
An occasional reader of the Bog who happens to live in the Phoenix area sent me the following important news release yesterday, which I'll quote nearly in full:
WEST JORGEN BLVD HOSTS SUPER BOWL OF BEER PONG
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Monday, January 28, 2008
GLENDALE, ARIZONA - On February 2nd at 3 pm the residents of [XXXX] West Jorgen Blvd will be hosting the party event of the Super Bowl Season. Teams of two will battle in their favorite teams' NFL gear for beer pong supremacy. This event will be very similar to a tournament run at the residence last year, the World Cup of Beer pong. Cover for this event will be five dollars per person with the winning team taking home the Lombardi trophy of beer pong.
Super Bowl tournament brackets and rules will be distributed shortly after the number of participants has been counted. All teams will be required to represent one NFL franchise and dress appropriately. To reserve a team, please e-mail [XXXX] ASAP with parings and desired franchises, as they will be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis.
That's how the release ends. The concept is great, but you have to worry a bit whether greater Phoenix will be able to provide enough, say, Lions and Titans jerseys to get up to a 32-team bracket, which is really what you'd prefer. And no, I'm not sure what "the Lombardi trophy of beer pong" looks like, but I'd sure be interested in finding out.

The trophy is a bronzed clear keg cup--a classic!
Event organizers: Don't forget the water cups for ball-cleaning pruposes.
