Today's Top Five: D.C. Sports Converge

(Photo by Matt Brown; more here.)

1) The Verizon Center on Saturday was indeed Ground Zero for D.C. Sports. Ted Leonsis and Chris Clark and John Thompson Jr. at the Georgetown game, followed by Jason Campbell and Carlos Rogers and Alex Ovechkin at the Wizards game. Luckily, Bugs and Cranks got photos, and added some timely words about D.C. teams and comebacks.

UPDATE: I was just told that Jason Bergmann and Aaron Boone from the Nats were also there. If anyone can name a D.C. United player in attendance, I'm calling Yahtzee!

2) Wilber Marshall gets a win from the U.S. Court of Appeals concerning his long battle with the NFL over disability payments. "These things crush people," his lawyer says of his injuries. From the Legal Times blog.

3) The Caps, blogs, Ovechkin, Leonsis....all this has been covered extensively, and yet I'll still read about it, especially in light of the events of last week, where bloggers "broke" news of Ovechkin's signing (by quoting from another reporter) and then were rebuked by Ted. From Poynter.

4) There are lots of interesting small nuggets, or "nuggetoids," in SLAM's live blog of the Wiz-Celtics, but most importantly, the Celtics had written on their white board: "Drive: NO Dancing." And yet when the game was done, sure enough, Antawn Jamison was dancing.

Also, the SLAMMERS took advantage of that fourth quarter deficit to write "so much for tough juice. More like pliable pudding." Good call, there.

Is this an image of Antawn Jamison doing the Soulja Boy? I think it is.

5) Jason Campbell's national championship ring, on eBay? Wait, Jason Campbell has a national championship ring? From FanHouse.

Can Dexter Manley possibly hook up with Marshall's attorney?

Uhh, Dan? You left out one of the biggest stories of the past week or two.

Where's follow up coverage of the Cheerleader Party? Or are you going to scoop that one for us? What did the wife say?

Great live blog on the Celts game even more fun knowing the Wiz came back to win. Hadn't heard about the DeShawn flossers habit. Bog Public needs to know more.
