How naive can Burton be to NOT understand why McNamee would deny involvement in steroid abuse before getting caught? There is a big, and obvious difference between lying to get out of trouble, and lying before anyone is wise to the crime. Burton must be worried about the dropping value of his autographed baseball.

Is it possible that Burton just ruined his career today? I certainly hope so.

Neocon here (and proud of it) - didn't get the partisan politics at all - what was the motivation on the part of Burton and other Repubs to worship Clemens and go all midevial on McNamee? For goodness sake Clemens even threw his wife under the bus, and he's worthy of Congressional support?

The grandstanding going on yesterday at that hearing made T.O. say, "Damn!" Yeah, it was THAT bad.

I wish I could vote for Dan Burton. This guy is great. I will send money next time he runs for congress even though I live in Michigan and he is from Indiana. I remember when he beat down the Clintons. We need more Dan Burtons.

Burton's performance was just shameful. He acts like it's absurd that someone could work for someone he doesn't trust, or lie to protect a friend before wising up, and basically treats McNamee like scum, but somehow his skeptical eye never glanced at the fact that Clemens' only defense to Pettite putting the finger on him was that his friend must have testified before congress under oath against him on the basis of a TV show he'd talked about 10 years ago. Give me a break.
