Did Andrea Kremer Take a Shot at TK?

Photo from The Retriever Weekly; go there and support them.

Andrea Kremer, talking to USA Today about the changing roles for Michele Tafoya and Suzy Kolber on MNF:

"Don't you think some people would be more interested in hearing what they have to say than some other people on that telecast?"

Emphasis added. Tirico's doing the play-by-play and is thus sort of central to the operation. By my count, that leaves two "other people" she might have been talking about. (Although, as UM points out below, perhaps she was referring to the special guests, in which case this whole item is moot, my bad.)

Former MNF producer Fred Gaudelli was less vague:

"If you ranked MNF's five announcers on ability, Kolber and Tafoya would be in the top three....But ESPN has a big bet on Kornheiser."

Wow. Move over Paul Farhi. Luckily there is some more positive coverage available at the Retriever Weekly, the UMBC student paper, which called Kornheiser "the famed ESPN commentator" when it described his Saturday visit to UMBC-Binghamton:

Fans were excited to see Kornheiser, sporting cut-outs of his head and yelling "What do you think now Tony?" during the game. Kornheiser mentioned the Bearcats winning the first meeting between the teams. Though this time the Retrievers came out on top 63-59 and possibly giving Kornheiser another disappointing ride home.

Listening to TK discuss his pre-game speech to the Bearcats on his radio show Monday made for great entertainment, blotting out that possibly disappointing car ride and the fact that he was nailed twice in USA Today today. Link via The Big Lead.

At least as to Tafoya, Kornheiser loves her, he had her on his radio show all the time. I'd be surprised if her "changing role" is because he wants her out.

Before they worked on MNF, TK was not too fond of THE SUZE. He subscribed to the "she doesn't think her poo smells" opinion, held by many people in the bizness, by which I mean the industry.

Interesting.

Who's Andrea Kremer?

Posted by: Kev | February 13, 2008 01:56 PM

I naturally assumed that Andrea was referring to all of the in-booth guests on MNF as opposed to Jaws and TK

I totally agree with Andrea Kremer and point out that Kornheiser is in no position to be casting stones. He could be very disrespectful to women at times. The guy couldn't shut up about the Namath incident either. Just because TK runs his mouth on that junky 30 minute show hardly makes him qualified to provide analysis on MNF. In fact, he's not. The guy ruined the property in the two years since ESPN put him in the booth.

this isn't a shocking revelation by AK when TK himself said he's terrible doing MNF during one episode of PTI. Wilbon was polite enough to not comment on TK's admission.

there are always undertones to these types of stories, so i'm going to classify this bout as a "gender war in mainstream american sports" issue.
