Jim Zorn Loves Children, Salmon, Art
I feel like just this one reference to the Hirshzorn has pretty much justified my salary today.
As long as I can keep pumping out Jim Zorn minutiae, I can think of no higher calling. Here's a good one, from a Q&A with the Seahawks Web site:
What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal is barbequed salmon with fresh fruit, several vegetables, lemonade and iced tea.
Key questions: Several vegetables? Interesting wording. And does "lemonade and iced tea" mean together, as in an Arnold Palmer, or does he actually drink two distinct beverages with his several vegetables, which would be even odder? And is one of the veggies Zorn on the Cob?

If you weren't a coach in the NFL, what would you be doing?
I would probably be working on art projects - all kinds of medium; three-dimensional things, really, and a museum curator. I've also thought about being an occupational therapist.
This augers well for Brandon Lloyd, since both men have their hands in world of fine arts. And hmmm, three-dimensional art? Can we rename Redskins Park the Hirshzorn Museum and Sculpture Garden already? Ok, last one:
What's your favorite hobby outside of sports?
It is definitely biking: mountain-biking, cross country, road racing ... anything that has to do with going hard and getting sweaty.
Going hard and getting sweaty? Now that actually does sound zornographic.

When I was a kid growing up in Northern Virginia, I visited my grandparents out in the Seattle area some summer in the late 1980's...I think I was about in the 4th grade. My grandparents said a NFL (or former NFL QB, I forget if he was still playing or not) went to their church and I thought that was pretty cool since I was a huge Redskins fan (still am of course) and any NFL player was cool to me.
Anyway, I go to their church, and get sent to the kids Bible class (apparently the sermons were too boring for the kids), and who turns out to be the teacher but Jim Zorn! We got through a little of the lesson, but since it was such a nice day out he took the class outside and threw us football passes. We formed a line and ran "routes" one
at a time and he'd throw us passes. I felt like the coolest kid, I mean, how many kids get to catch passes from an NFL QB...at church of all places?
I don't remember anything from those visits out to Seattle except for this one memory, so when I heard Zorn is the new coach, I couldn't believe it. For an NFL QB not only to go to church, but teach a kids Bible class and then make the year for all the boys in the class by throwing them passes....well, I think that says a lot about the guy. I really hope he does well as coach.

It's nice to see Zorn is such a well-rounded, grounded individual. That will come in handy when he loses his first game and everyone from Fairfax to Annapolis will scream for his head

Looks like the Arnold Palmer is finally making the comeback it deserves. I have my fingers crossed that I won't get carded the next time I order one.
