AU Wins

We'll never forget you, wolf.

As promised, I took my one-year old daughter to Bender Arena yesterday for her first college basketball game. But it turns out when a sold-out crowd spits out dozens of standers, who gather at the top of the bleachers for the entire game, you can't really see anything when you're sitting up there with your one-year-old crawling daughter. So I didn't see more than three minutes of second-half action. But I listened to it, and judged what was happening by watching the scoreboard, and the gaggle of Jeff-Jones-coached UVA alums (who were a lot taller than I) and Jeff Jones's wife, who paced for much of the game at a pace that must have allowed her to burn off several hundred calories.

And then we all went down to the floor, so we could watch the kids chant "We Want Duke!!!!" and watch them all jump over the scorer's table and watch Jeff Jones sob on the bench and watch kids random people dressed like wolves ask for the Eagles to be sent to the Verizon Center. Which won't happen, but which would be cool.

(Current WaPo prediction; either AU goes to Raleigh to get pummeled by UNC/Duke, or AU and Mason and Morgan/Coppin and Mount St. Mary's and Georgetown and Virginia Tech and UMBC get shipped en masse to Birmingham. Which would be even cooler.)

That wasn't a student dressed up as the wolf - it was some guy in his mid-forties who I think works for the book store. It was far too creepy to be an AU student.

Seriously, you would find the weirdest person at the entire game and make it look like we're a bunch of crazies...hahaha...
