Is the Atlantic 10 Cratering?

Obviously this is subject to certain changes, but recall that the A-10 had eight teams in the postseason. Three already lost in various stages of NIT/CBI nonsense. The league's dominant regular season champion, Xavier, is losing to Georgia. The league's tournament champion, Temple, is getting hammered by Michigan State. If both scores hold up, that would be a 2-5 record thus far, with St. Joe's still to play.

Georgia would become the third 14 seed to win this decade, joining Bucknell in 2005 (over Kansas) and Northwestern State in 2006 (over Iowa). I would venture that Georgia might be the least-underdoggy of the 14th-seeded winners, but for some reason the official tournament record book doesn't include betting lines. The Dawgs, in any case, were about nine-point dawgs.

[UPDATE: The publication of this entry corresponded almost exactly with Xavier going on a 9,374-1 run. Sorry to any Georgia fans who might accuse me of cursing their team. That's my bad.]
