The Final Four Will Be....Celeb Edition

Mark me down as the only college hoops blogger writing about both Antawn Jamison and Sen. Ben Cardin today.

For the second year in a row, I'm helping the fine folks at WaPo.com collect all manner of D.C. and national celebrity brackets, for you to compare yourselves against. All you have to do is submit a free bracket to the free Tourney Tracker, which is totally great, besides the scoring system, which I object to as strongly as one can object to a scoring system for a free contest run by one's employer.

The brackets have started pouring in, so I figured I ought to offer a sampling:

Antawn Jamison
Biggest first-round upset: Davidson over Gonzaga
Biggest second-round upset: Drake over U-Conn
Final Four: North Carolina, Kansas, Memphis, UCLA
Champion: North Carolina over Memphis

Brendan Haywood
Biggest first-round upset: Western Kentucky over Drake
Biggest second-round upset: Southern Cal over Wisconsin
Final Four: North Carolina, Kansas, Texas, UCLA

Kevin Harvick, whose entry says "Shell-Pennzoil Team"
Biggest first-round upset: Western Kentucky over Drake
Biggest second-round upset: Notre Dame over Washington State
Final Four: North Carolina, Georgetown, Memphis, UCLA
Champion: North Carolina over Memphis

Jeff Burton, whose entry says "AT&T Chevrolet"
Biggest first-round upset: All 11 seeds besides Kansas State.
Biggest second-round upset: Baylor over Xavier, Southern Cal over Wisconsin
Final Four: North Carolina, Kansas, Pitt, UCLA
Champion: Kansas over Pitt

Elliott Sadler, whose entry oddly does not mention Best Buy, Dodge, McDonald's or Stanley
Biggest first-round upset: Kentucky over Marquette.
Biggest second-round upset: Southern Cal over Wisconsin
Final Four: North Carolina, Kansas, Texas, UCLA
Champion: UNC over UCLA

Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin
Biggest first-round upset: Temple over Michigan State, St. Joe's over Oklahoma

Biggest first-round upset: None
Biggest second-round upset: Southern Cal over Wisconsin

1. Only clownboot Haywood would pick against his alma mater.

2. Nobody bothered to get Chuck Brown's picks this year?

Posted by: ScottVanPeltStyle.com | March 19, 2008 12:29 PM

Wizards equipment manager Rob Suller just sent his picks in:

Biggest first round upset: Five Guys over Mcdonald's
Biggest second round upset: White Castle over Checkers
Final Four: Popeye's, Kentucky (Not the Wildcats), Burger King, Five Guys.
Champion: Burger King

Haywood's entry is acceptable if we're talking $$$. Totally unacceptable for a celebrity doing it for fun.

Five Guys over McDonald's isn't really an upset. It's like Georgetown over North Carolina. Local team with big talent.

Now Checkers? White Castle would be an upset, as it is the most disgusting of all burger joints.

Wait...Wait....Wait....That's the same Brendan Haywood that played for North Carolina?

I always figured there were two Brendan Haywoods. The one we have and the talented guy.
