Wiz and Cavs Wage Destiny's Child War

As it has become increasingly clear that Wizards-Cavs III is ordained by fate and cannot be stopped by mere humans or Jose Calderon, the early chatter made this a hip-hop feud: LeBron playing Jay-Z to DeShawn's Soulja Boy. Which is a fine theme, and if it results in Soulja Boy and G-Wiz doing the Soulja Boy together, will have fulfilled its historical role.
But the far greater theme is the full-scale Destiny's Child Civil War that might be waged should this matchup come to pass. As reported yesterday by wonderful Cavs beat guy Brian Windhorst:
Stevenson and James might indeed have some personal stuff behind the scenes. Stevenson has dated LeToya Luckett and Farrah Franklin, both of whom were members of R&B group Destiny's Child. Of course, James is very close to former Destiny's Child member Beyonce Knowles, who is engaged to close friend Jay-Z. James' friend and manager, Maverick Carter, also dated Kelly Rowland, another former Destiny's Child member.
Zoinks. That would be the same Kelly Rowland who sang the National Anthem at this year's Wiz home opener. All of this "personal stuff" talk, of course, came from Drew Gooden, the man with the $20,000 beard bet with Stevenson, making this feud even more of a three-way. The Chicago Sun-Times is calling Gooden's look "the most distinctive beard in Illinois since Abraham Lincoln," which I guess could also be said for D.C. and Stevenson, excepting Chester A. Arthur. But anyhow, Gilbert, of course, has also had his Destiny's Child moment, when Beyonce came to D.C. this summer:
For all the Beyonce' fans out there, I went to her concert. You know, you see her on TV and you think, 'Oh man, does she really look that pretty in person?' Yes. She does. I never realized what makes her so different until I saw her live. She's an entertainer. She has everything. She entertained me. I gladly spent money on a suite to see her. I invited a couple of my teammates too. DeShawn Stevenson came, Caron came.'...
At the end, I got back stage. Come on, it was at the Verizon Center. The security guards know whose picture is on the building. I got all access. She gave me a hug and I had her autograph my Wizards No. 1 jersey with 'B-E-Y-O-N-C-E' on the back. There's no scandal behind the hug. Me and Jay-Z are good. We're good peoples.
Yeah, and Drew Gooden and LeBron James used to be teammates. Discussion question: could this be the best playoff series in Washington sports history?

So what you are saying is, Destiny's Child breaking themselves up was just a warm up. Creating NBA rivalries is the real key to being R&B divas?

Wow, that's verrry interesting.
Especially for us women fans. Because we know that everything men do, they do for women -- even if the men don't know that.
Explains DeShawn's and-you-can-quote-me comment that Lebron is overrated.
Which he is.

wiz can't win cuz this is more WWF entertainment than real bb. labron is the intercontinental east coast champ out of cleland. wiz need to market the biz side w/tough juice, twan and now deep undercover agent zero. travolta would die for that daniels strut, its real and off the charts. count the steps bron got on that final drive, i stopped at sicks

Seems the Fates have conspired to bring us another 1st round series with the LeBrons. Thanks to DeShawn's 'poking-the-bear' comments, and minus the insufferable Nike ads, this promises to be the most highly anticipated Wizards playoff series since the one-off play-in game between the Bullets and the Cavs all those years ago.
Wanted to post this on the Insider, but neither Ivan nor Michael could give this the treatment it deserves. Brushing my teeth last night and it struck me, the similarities between Alvin and the Chipmunks and Gilbert & Co. Obviously, Alvin, the precocious, stubborn, outspoken leader of the trio...throw in a blog and a few game-winners and who does he remind you of? Simon, the soft-spoken, cerebral, wizened background singer, who lends the group needed gravitas...Antawn anyone? Finally, Theodore, the cherubic, slightly beefier, heart-and-soul of the Chipmunks, without whom, the group would probably go, 4-10 in February...maybe, the Tough Juice comparison is a bit of a stretch, but there is definitely resonance there.
Anyway, Dan, you'd probably do a much better job with this and I just thought I'd put that red, blue, and green blip on your radar screen.
