Caps Don't Stop Believing
Another place where belief wasn't stopped.
Not sure that I've previously mentioned this, but the Caps have been regularly playing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" in the dressing room after wins. This is, of course, a highly appropriate anthem that has also become highly non-original since the White Sox's World Series run, to the point where some sports team could elect to embrace "We Will Rock You" as its anthem and it would seem like a startling bit of never-before-used creativity by comparison.
I've noted how both the American and George Mason pep bands refused to stop believing all March. The Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League used the anthem this month; "We can't stop believing," Roughnecks defender Chris Seller said, in case the message was lost. Ditto for the Rochester Nighthawks of the NLL. Ditto for the Edmonton Oilers and the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. And Manchester City. And the Silver Creek (Ind.) Dragons baseball team. And the Michigan men's gymnastics team.
And now comes word that the Calgary Flames have discovered an exciting new anthem to inspire their fans. From today's Globe and Mail:
Yes, that was Journey's Don't Stop Believing playing over the loudspeaker system just minutes before the Calgary Flames took to the ice last night against the San Jose Sharks with their NHL playoff lives on the line.
Hey, if it was good enough for the final episode of The Sopranos, it was good enough for the Flames too.
Sure, the Flames won, and sure the tune seems to have worked ok for the Caps in recent weeks, but maybe there are other ways to convey the continuance of belief. Suggestions: "I Just Can't Help Believing" by Elvis, "Keep Believing" by Aaron Carter, "Believing" by The Calling, or "Never Stop Believing" by Ice MC. If nothing else, playing these tunes in the Flyers press box has proved a wonderful way to annoy the Caps beat writers.

I can imagine Baltimore-native Tupac being played at a Nationals game...
This post lost all credibility when the name Aaron Carter was used.

Dan, what about "Keep ya Head up" by Tupac. If the plight of racial oppression amongst 1990s urban african-americans doesn't speak to the Caps' current playoff story, I don't know what will!!
