Cleveland Fans Appear Confident

Do I think the Cavs will almost certainly win this series? Of course I do. You'd say that about any team up 3-1 at home, much less a team that has so completely owned its opponent for three postseasons in a row.

Do I think it's 100 percent stone-cold impossible for the Wizards to win the series? Well, maybe 99.4792 percent impossible.

Would it be the most shocking thing in the history of team sports? Nah. In fact, the Cavs appear to be only about five-point home favorites today, approximately the same number Detroit is giving at Philly tomorrow, despite the fact that the Pistons are on the road and the Sixers have thus far put forth a better showing than the Wiz.

If the Wiz somehow won three straight, would this photo be a nice novelty item? Sure, why not. There's a corner of the Q's game floor that bears little inspirational messages, such as this one. Would be a cold way to go, losing on a floor that bears this inspirational message.

Cleveland fans should get a grip --

Losers: like, you guys live in CLEVELAND.

At least our guys will enjoy their offseason in the DC area.

Word.

Would love to hear your comments on the Bob Costas town hall meeting with Wilbon uniformly criticizing all sports blogging and Deadspin being held up as the banner of what sports blogging is.

Posted by: Andrew | April 30, 2008 2:01 PM

As a DC fan I am also confident. I am confident in the fact that Cleveland is a rotting, stink hole of a crap town. Win a championship in some thing/any thing before another one of your beloved teams gets relocated. Baltimore sure enjoyed that Super Bowl victory that you all were so nice to hand over.

MISTAKE BY THE LAKE!

Posted by: sandro | April 30, 2008 2:16 PM

oh and anyone know why the game is at 6? do they not have clocks in cleveland?

Posted by: sandro | April 30, 2008 2:18 PM

Agreed, and the Anacostia and Potomac rivers have never caught on fire like their crap town's river.

http://pratie.blogspot.com/2005/03/cuyahoga-river-fire-of-1969.html

Posted by: ahern | April 30, 2008 2:21 PM

the game is at 6 because of LA sweeping Denver. The only 2 games played tonight are both eastern conf...Cleve and Boston. Can't start an east coast Boston at 10:30.
Sooooo 6p and 8:30. GOOOOOOOOO CAVS

Posted by: topspin256 | April 30, 2008 2:29 PM

BTW....the only clock in cleveland that matters now is the game clock. Triple zero's 00.0 with The cavs in the lead.

Posted by: topspin256 | April 30, 2008 2:31 PM

Cleveland Sucks!

Posted by: mjwies11, washington, dc | April 30, 2008 2:31 PM

but you can start the boston game at 9:30.

Posted by: sandro | April 30, 2008 2:32 PM

Whether they suck or not remains to be seen but they are ahead of you and have been last 2 yrs and looks like a 3-peat from where I sit. On the time of 8:30 or 9:30 or whatever...take it up with the league or whoever makes those decisions. Just being courteous and answering your question. Enjoy the game!!!!!!

Posted by: topspin256 | April 30, 2008 2:36 PM

if the Wizards win Game 5, I'm going to Game 6. if the Wizards don't win Game 5, I'm going to simulate Game 6 on the PS3 with Pecherov hitting the dagger as time expires. it's a win-win situation in my book.

Posted by: greg | April 30, 2008 2:47 PM

All the Wizards have proven is that they can hit James, but they can't knock him out, or knock him off his game.

James is averaging 29.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. He won the first game with two huge shots late, guided his team to a blowout in Game 2 and set up the game-winning shot in Game 4.

He has been knocked down, hit in the mouth, hit in the head and shoved when he was in the air.

He has not been deterred.

Ben Wallace shrugged off the physical play, saying he has been through much worse. Joe Smith called the series the most physical he's taken part in.

Whatever it is, it all has gotten to be too much. When there's more talk about songs and clubs and a guy resorts to a throat-slash move on the court and then swings at another guy's head, it has gone beyond basketball and gone too far.

It was fun for a while to talk about the back-and-forth
chatter. Fun to talk about, fun to write about. Now it has gone on long enough.

On Tuesday, two kids were shot and killed at a school in northeast Washington. Tornadoes destroyed homes in Virginia. Bombs went off in Iraq.

That's real, not the garbage that has been tossed about in this series.

Think about it: Guys making millions are whining about being disrespected while taking and giving cheap shots during a basketball game.

Something wrong with that picture?

It's time for it to end.

The Cavs can do themselves and the rest of the world a large favor tonight.

Win the game, end the series, send the Wizards back home.

Three years in a row and the majority of people in and around Cleveland, Ohio are still unemployed.

Hey our team sucks and can't beat the other teams so let's bash the city! That'll show those fools in Cleveland. Give me a break. Enjoy the offseason. You always have Ratbird football to look forward to.

First of all, Dan Steinberg is incorrect...the photo above this blog does not depict phrases written by Cleveland fans...these things were written by Cavaliers employees. The Cavaliers three year tradition is that all employees can sign all FOUR corners of the court (not just one of them) before the first game of the first round of the playoffs.

Here's hoping that another tradition follows in similar fashion- that we beat the Washington Wizards, yet again.

The Washington players have shown all throughout these playoffs that they are classless and moronic by continually talking trash when they have nothing at all to back it up. It's no wonder that you "fans" are doing the same thing.

Enjoy your offseason. RISE UP CAVS!!

First of all, Dan Steinberg is incorrect in his blog...the photo above does not depict phrases written by Cleveland fans...these things were written by Cavaliers employees- with the above picture directly in front of the Wizards bench.

The Cavaliers have an ongoing three year tradition that all employees have the opportunity to sign the FOUR corners of the court (not just one of them) before the first game of the first round of the playoffs.

That being said, here's hoping that another tradition follows in similar fashion- that we beat the Washington Wizards, yet again in the first round!!

The Washington players have shown all throughout this series that they are classless (to say the least)and moronic. I have to wonder if the teams collective IQ is even that of a normal humans? Continually talking trash when they have nothing at all to back it up... that makes you a legitimate team?! It's no wonder that you "fans" are doing the same thing. Go ahead, trash our city. You can call us the mistake on the lake, but the heart of this city is unlike any other and the sports fans are amazing.

Enjoy your LONG offseason Wizards. RISE UP CAVS!!

Posted by: CLElove88 | April 30, 2008 4:37 PM

i hope you're not talking football, c-town, considering you haven't won a title since 1964. that's not even a super bowl.

i'm not bitter about the wiz losing, but are you really going to count last year's sweep. you basically played our 2nd and 3rd string.

don't be bitter cleveland fans when lebron stabs you guys in the back (like boozer did) and joins a bigger market with the knicks or minority owner jay z and the Brooklyn Nets.

Posted by: lebron brown | April 30, 2008 4:50 PM

You act like summer in DC is that great. If you like sweating it is! Cleveland on the other hand is great in the summer.

Posted by: You suck | April 30, 2008 5:21 PM

I can't wait until LeBron goes to Brooklyn. It will be so much easier to pull for him when he's not covered with the crap of Cleveland fans.

Posted by: McBride | April 30, 2008 5:40 PM

It's absolutely amazing to watch ppl bash each other and their cities... What is everyone on here 12-years-old?! This is a basketball series-- not football, not a pissing contest... a basketball series. The game is played on the court & that's where it ends. A win is a win, a loss is a loss. The stats speak for themselves either way. Have fun watching the game, everyone, but please stop the petty BS. It's the NBA, ppl... get a grip.

Posted by: QuitTheBS | April 30, 2008 5:53 PM

agreed

Posted by: Yeppers | April 30, 2008 6:46 PM

cleveland is a turd town. doesn't change the fact that the wizards suck and that d.c. is a ghetto surrounded by politician theives.

go cavs and put this miserable team out of it's misery. butler and jamison deserve a hell of a lot better than this sorry team.

Posted by: terje | April 30, 2008 7:30 PM

sorry terje....u boyz gotta come back to the so called "ghetto surrounded by politcians" lol.....dont get mad cause ur not lucky enough to be from here playboy

washington is a stink hole i been there before isnt the white house by the ghetto

Posted by: | April 30, 2008 11:58 PM

i grew up in the cleveland ohio area; cleveland has great museums, a wonderful metro-park system, great theaters, the lake front, sports teams, everything else you would find in a major city. the only negatives people complain about are the winter snow ( i actually like the snow) and if you actually live in the city limits the school system has got a bad rap; overall cleveland is still sometimes the butt of jokes because of it's poor reputation as a dirty industrial city in the 60's and 70's, but that has changed quite a bit.

Posted by: | May 1, 2008 12:42 AM

there's no way this can be written on the actual bball court in the arena...where is this written???

Posted by: ak | May 1, 2008 8:47 AM

yes it is on the court- in the corners off of the playing surface but right in front of the benches and courtside seats. Look during a game, you can see it.
