Damon Jones Faux-Slashes His Throat
So DeShawn Stevenson was fined $25k for his "Roc-a-fella dynasty" hand signal-throat slash maneuver early in Game 4. The NBA described it as a "menacing gesture." Fair enough. Except just last month Damon Jones made a three-pointer late in a Wiz win over loss to the Cavs, which he followed up with the "I can't feel my face" gesture and then, yup, a throat slash.
Was he fined? If so, I find no mention of it anywhere.
A commenter at the SOHH boards had the best explanation for why Damon Jones was (presumably) not fined: because David Stern couldn't see him. Duh.
Much love to Wizards Insider commenter Ashburn for the find, which comes 1:05 into the clip and is followed by hearty, non-menacing studio laughter. And if anyone could find a way to keep the series going in perpetuity, I'd appreciate it.
